Williams get new agent, has made no firm promises about staying in New Jersey

Im happy that at least we proved to the world that no player is indispensable. I was shocked when Deron was traded but it was the best move that KOC did in the recent years. He chose to make a new beginning instead of getting stuck to Deron's Will for the upcoming years. And now with the help basketball Gods we have 2 3rd picks and 2 lottery picks from last 2 yrs. Thats a pretty good core. There is no need to look back and talk about Deron, he is gone and never will be back. And right now we dont need Deron, we need some complementary pieces especially for 1 and 3. Our new leader seems to be Hayward and lets just hope he will not disappoint the franchise and lead the team with a strong character not frustration.

The Jazz had better hope that New Jersey doesn't pick up Howard.

Why? Because if it's not New Jersey luring Howard to greener pastures, it's probably the Lakers and D-Will will be right behind him.

I'm actually hoping Jersey/Brooklyn locks up D-Will long term. It keeps him out of the West where he could land in L.A. or Dallas and most likely lure a few guys with him in an attempt to make the next "Super" team.

I think any scenario that keeps D-Will in Jersey is a win for Utah. However, I think he's destined to sign with Dallas- just too many pieces fall into place IMO. Fast forward 3 or 4 years from now: D-Will is a Maverick and the Jazz have repositioned themselves as a top team in the West. Could you imagine the intensity of a Jazz-Mav's playoff series? Utah fans would be ALL OVER D-Will. It would be ugly.

The Heat are primed for annual trips to the finals as the perennial powers of the west decline. I would love it if the Nets could challenge them. I'd probably root for Deron/Lopez/Howard even if not against the Heat.

If New Jersey can sign Dwight Howard once he becomes a free agent they will compete with Miami and Chicago for eastern conference champions for the next 10 years. D-Will, Howard and Lopez will be max players just as good, if not better than Miami's big three. You'd have to get rid of every other contract, which is no big deal because just like Miami, players would line up to take the minimum just to have a shot at an NBA championship. The Jazz had better hope that New Jersey doesn't pick up Howard.

10 years is a bit of an exageration. Dwill and dwight are no better than Dwill, boozer, memo. Under the new CBA teams more than likely will be limited on how much they can stack. Dwight and Dwill really is not that impresive to me.

NO

He's played seven full seasons before. Not sure if you were aware. Most players don't do anything but largely plateau or decline from where he's at, especially since his game to this point has been largely predicated on his speed (which is the first thing you start losing with age).

What does his prior experience with subpar teams (except his early years with the Mavs) tell us how hell do in a system where he isnt the focal point of the offense? Gary Paytons gamed involved speed; he definitely plateaued at 28, and remained relavent for only two more years...
Regardless the point I was trying to make with my post is that we have one of the best non-elite pgs in the market right now, and is mroe than capable of both accepting a secondary scoring role, assisting and scoring in clutch situations. Regardless, the next 3 years worth of drafts will be full of PGs, seeing as a solid point guard is relatively easy to access, and is all that is needed to make a finals run (See John Paxson, Jason Kidd, Mike Bibby, Derek Fisher etc) I honestly dont think we need a much better point guard than Harris, and feel like he offers a lot for his position at a decent price, plus offers good scoring and hopefully decent defense. My initial post was telling people to knock off the criticism, seeing as we saw the guy start 16 games, and be realistic when we lust for players that in fact make our awful shooting even more concerning.

Those teams also had Jordan, Nowitzki, Kobe,Lebron and Wade. Who are the players of that caliber on this team? If you can get a superstar wing who can handle the ball, score and defend, then yes Harris is more than sufficient. But until then, we can definitely use a better floor leader, especially when you are running the Jazz system. Either Burks or Hayward or preferably both have to be all stars or borderline all star material for us to make a Finals run with Harris as PG.

Is this exercise in excuse-making for Harris or Jefferson? I can't tell sometimes. And if PG doesn't matter, why the hell even waste the $20 million on Harris anyway?

Anyway, I'm still waiting for that long list of players that suddenly get significantly better in their late twenties that AK's supposed to have been on every year for the last 4. That's an invitation to everyone.
