Utah should take a big swing and get CJ McCollum. Trade Ingles + Clarkson (+ maybe a pick) for CJ. CJ fills the roles of both guys. He can be the second unit PG when needed, the second unit flamethrower when needed, and the spot starter. He is the better version of both Ingles and Clarkson combined into one player.

Yes, he has big contract, but it’s about competing for a championship. McCollum + Mitchell + Conley would give Coach Q a lot of interchangeable weapons and an unbeatable trio to rotate. Each guy would get 30+ minutes a game. It would be reminiscent of the Bad Boy Pistons or the Durant, Westbrook, Harden Thunder that always had 2 on the floor at a time.

Portland does it because they need to rebuild and reevaluate around Damian, and they have been looking to move CJs contract. Articles have said CJ contract would require Portland to give up a pick but in this case they get two vets (one on an expiring deal that gives them flexibility) and they can move Norman Powell into CJs starting spot.

Our problems are all on the defensive end, specifically perimeter defense. This trade would do nothing to solve that. We already have a historically great offense.

On average, he is a more consistent and efficient offensive player than Clarkson. He does everything Clarkson does but better. CJ is also a slightly better defensive player. Definitely not a defensive wiz, but an upgrade. I think more minutes to Danuel House would help solve other perimeter defensive issues.

I mean if you like small guards with no defense, might start watching some Portland Blazers. They are great at finding this type of player, with Anfernee Simons being their latest edition.
