What's new

With 8 days left, SPEAKING THE #1 PICK INTO EXISTENCE!!! No churro talk allowed

Man are the Spurs lucky!!! When they do get the number one pick it happens to be a franchise type player. Robinson, Duncan and now Wemby has that potential. The problem for the Spurs is they need LOTS of help so I am not ready to crown them NBA champions so fast. Jazz need to hit both of their top 2 picks this year.

But all the odds aren't great. That's just how it goes.
So you walk into a casino and there are two Buffalo Gold slot machines. One says 99% payouts and the other one says 95% payouts. You sit at the 95% payout machine and taunt the person who sat at the 99% payout machine by telling them that no one really wins in a casino.

The Pistons are going to get a much better player than the Jazz will - what is your point here? A 5th pick is better than a 9th pick. I would rather have the 5th pick than the 9th because historically the 5th pick is much better. You sound like a clown
Lol wut?

You should google the 2014 NBA draft when the Jazz drafted 5 and Denver drafted 41. Who ended up on top?

In this draft with so many unknowns, the #9 pick will most likely outperform many drafted 1-8. Stop panicking

That they had a horrible season and got a 5th pick. Getting the lesser Thompson bother doesn't seem worth it for as horrible as they were
Last season means diddly when next season starts. Pistons could very well be better than the Jazz next year, so who cares?

Both teams ‘accomplished’ absolutely zero this year. But the Pistons had a legitimate shot at Wemby and their consolation prize is a top 5 pick. How you don’t see that as better than the 9th pick and some vague ‘culture wins’ is what is comical here.

If we both lost all our money, the odds wouldn't matter much to me.

A legitimate shot? Not really. Heck, their legitimate shot at a top 4 pick didn't matter at all.

I’m more disappointed in our 2nd pick. Having two Top 14 picks close together would’ve made things easier. Now with them spread so far apart, I’m guessing it’s going to make it much harder to zero in on the talent we want.

What are you talking about? Yes, as good a chance as any team had.

Strange how you’re only bringing up the team that got hosed tonight as a comparison.
“I wish we had tanked like the Spurs!”
Is it acceptable now?

But it just goes to show that the chance doesn't equate to success. The odds just aren't that great for the lottery.

The Blazers won like 16 more games than the Pistons and got a better pick.

Do the Spurs get the number 1 pick if they lose another game? Who knows, it's all random.

Wasted seasons (i.e. not executing the winning plan) leads to wasted draft picks. Who knew?

I’m angrier at the spurs getting the #1 pick. They got the best player for a generation 25ish years ago. If Wemby plays to his potential, then they got another Duncan and 4-6 titles over the next 20 years again.

It’s random… with odds! And better odds are better than worse odds. Your failure to grasp this concept is concerning.

They've had it twice already. The admiral and Duncan and now Wemby. ********. Of all the teams in the entire lottery the Spurs made the most sense from a money perspective for the NBA. More fuel for the NBA bias conspiracy.

Ernst & Young did the lottery though..

Ok, they're better but not much better. Which is why the lottery almost never plays out the way the odds say they will.

Which is why I don't get the complaining about how the Jazz should have lost more games.

Three times better is much better. Only top 5 odds teams got into the top 4. Obviously it matters.

People bitching about the lottery are the absolute worst. Jazz DID tank. They tanked hard! They were a playoff team even after trading Mitchell and Gobert. They shucked assets left and right and sat players. They were too good to tank effectively. a bottom 5 record was NEVER going to happen. The only way that happened is if Lauri was legit injured for a majority of the season.

And yes, Lauri + 9 + what the Jazz have asset wise is >>>>>>>>>> than Detroit with 5 + whatever the hell they have going on.
