Would you rather have us in the playoffs or getting better draft picks?

Playoffs or draft glory?

Playoffs. Of course i voted on what i would like to see the jazz do from a fan perspective.
If i were the GM then maybe i would vote differently.
Since i am fan its playoffs and its not even close.

I have this sneaking feeling the Jazz could actually be players in 2019 free agency if the Jazz make the right moves to preserve cap while simultaneously being a good team and revered organization.

So, playoffs.

Additionally, I just don't see the Jazz sucking enough to get a top-10 pick. So they might as well make the playoffs at that point in my mind. And hell, if they can get healthy and can resolve this Rubio/Favors roster debacle, they could maybe even make a little noise.
So jettison Hood or Exum, because signing both means no significant cap space. I guess signing just one, then the Jazz have Burks' and Rubio's salaries come off the books. Of course, that also assumes Utah does nothing to address the oozing hole at PF for next year (Favs and JJ would be gone), so you'd have Jerebko and Thabo man the 4?

I'd rather have a good draft pick.

Str8line did say in the OP 'What would you do if you were a Jazz GM' though... so your vote should have actually been the draft pick.

I dont care though. I want to make the playoffs so thats how i voted.

If I could get a top 5 pick, I'd do that. If it's the choice between pick 10-14 or playoffs, I'd pick playoffs.

I don't see how we'd get higher than 10 or maybe 9. The right thing to do is to trade our 1st and a player in order to swap picks with someone in the 9 - 11 range. I wonder if by the trade deadline the Cavs would swap firsts (BK pick for Jazz's pick) for Favors. That would probably move us up 5 spots where we could get Robert Williams, one of the Bridges, Musa or maybe Knox.

what do draft picks do when they become free agents? they leave. they keep doing it. the jazz need to become the type of organization that players want to stay for: a playoff team

(yes, haywood left after a playoff run, but he'd been planning to leave for years, and it was the first time in the playoffs for most of his career.)

Hayward won’t be in the playoffs this year.

Playoffs, mainly because they're not going to suck enough to get a deep impact pick. Right now Jazz pick about 12 - I doubt they go much lower than that if at all.

I know the draft fan boys will be all over me but I don't see much difference between 12 and 15. Pretty much everything after 4 is a crap shoot anyway.

If The Jazz can come in a steal one from Houston or GSW and give DM a chance to play on a national stage, I think it would do more for the brand than a #12 pick.

The Jazz have picked twice at 13 during the last 30+ years: Karl Malone and Donovan Mitchell. And we got Stockton at 15, if I remember correctly. But the odds are long and I prefer we make the playoffs.
