What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Regency bias. Sorry. I usually try to proof read because I type on my phone and it’s amazing how autocorrect can insert something that reads fluently but totally changes the meaning (not that necessarily, but other stuff).

To be fair, I haven’t really mentioned him for quite a while, and I remain fairly skeptical about us really maneuvering in a way that would include him.

I have to agree with him because I use to diss him up the most about his love for miroshi* but he hasn't mentioned him for a while

Someone with a better internet connection and technology run a comparison between Mirotic and Bjelica. If you can parlay Exum into Bjelica, that would open up a world of possibilities.

RPM
Bjelica 1.79
Harris 1.63
Mirotic 1.65

RAPM
Bjelica 1.18
Harris 0.61
Mirotic 0.86

Multi-year PIPM
Bjelica 0.6
Harris 0.2
Mirotic 1.1

Wins added
Bjelica 4.7
Harris 5.6
Mirotic 2.9

If we are going to be getting rid off Favors, lets just get Bjelica and use the rest of the capspace on wing(s) and guard(s)

Basically:
- very close in plus-minus stats and win share/40 stats this year, Bjelica perhaps a bit better this year in +/-; though Mirotic better by a fair amount in career, as he also is in win shares
- Bjelica has higher FG% but very similar overall TS% since Mirotic shoots so many more 3s and gets to line more
- Mirotic a better rebounder, Bjelica better at assists (a clear difference in both, but neither by huge amounts)
- Biggest difference is usage and points with Mirotic clearly able to carry a bigger role. Bjelica's usage is less than Gobert's or Ingles's this past year; Mirotic's was in last year's Rubio/Exum range (who were the Jazz's 2nd & 3rd highest usage rotation players last year, if we omit Burks).
- Almost all of the usage difference is in 3-pointers. Mirotic shoots nearly 80% more per 100 possessions. Both shoot nearly equal number of two pointers.
- Bjelica's stats are somewhat similar to Mirotic's, but they're actually a lot more similar (per 100) to Jonas Jerebko's in Utah and GS. Stats may look like Bjelica's a bit better than Jerebko but not by much at all (mainly only because of very small difference in minutes played and usage that favors Bjelica).

Edit: I guess Stitches did it better and first

Why would Sac give us Bjelica?

Because their management is a disaster and Bjelica’s role was a major source of contention between the FO and coaching (because he started over Bagley). There’s also the potential that they’ll nab yet another big in free agency.

Rumors say Sacramento has interest in Horford. Wonder if we could just trade Favors for Bjelica instead. That way Favors gets his big 2019-20 pay day by having his option picked up and Sacramento maintains some rights going forward.

If they really don't want Bjelica for the reasons you mentioned, they might even send us a couple of the 4 2nd rounders they have in the 2020 draft.

That leaves us with $10 million in cap space. Portis maybe?

Yeah, maybe. I’m much more interested in Exum’s money being used better though. It’s probably a pipe dream. I feel like Sacramento is a team that might be happy to roll the dice on Exum.

At least they mentioned at the end that Pelton was too eager to get that deal done, and that GMs think less of Mirotic than them. So hopefully his final cost isn't near 18 million.

And that he should have traded Favs for something better on his deal.

DL ain’t giving him up. Can’t remember what pod it was but Windhorst mentioned the Jazz are higher than any team on Dante still... we can’t trade him if we aren’t willing.

I like Bjelica but he’s older and not a free agent. Niko is better than him... the wins added isn’t great for Niko because he had a few injuries.
