What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

Why do we assume it's going to be a wing? We have Hayward and Burks starting and pretty decent backups in Ingles, Hood and Millsap.

When DL talked about maybe speeding things up and also said Exum was a "placeholder" when he was in there, it got me thinking Lindsey could sure package the pick and Trey for a big upgrade at PG. Then have Exum come off the bench again. Or he still starts and plays 20 mins, but you have a very good PG come off the bench and play 28. Could be a pure PG or a combo guard. Would not surprise me one bit if that were to happen. And a player like Cotton or Neto could come aboard as the 3rd PG.

why not include minutes? Especially since he's playing behind two of the best perimeter players in the league..

25, 28, and 29min this year... so he is getting plenty of play time. I know he is playing behind Klay and Steph, but it is still something to consider.

You take the best deal/player you can find. You have to have a willing trade partners. Barnes is a pretty solid suggestion.

yeah, but you referenced Hayward's "jump."
Barnes has had steady minutes/steady production.
Hayward started with 17 minutes and had gone to 35+. I think that is a big enough jump in minutes differential to warrant a rebuttal.

Besides all that, we're talking about trading for a guy making $5.5MM ... not trading for Hayward.

GSW is such a good target simply because they can't have 3 MAX guys in the backcourt alone and hope to win Championships.

Barnes is the odd one out.

Barnes at close to a 2:1 A:TO ratio.. plus 43% from 3.

Done. Trade GSW our pick straight up so they can make space and bring on a new guy to prune.

Posted an offer on the GSW realGM board. Utah 2015+GSW2017 for Barnes. Lets see if they want any part of it...

I wonder if Devin Booker is available when we pick GSW would be interested in him?

Imagine Booker learning/being mentored by Steph and Klay.

Nice work.

We can also throw in 2 second rounders in '17 as well if they hesitate. That should seal the deal.

Nah, I think that's plenty enough... I was even thinking that their 2017 might be too much, but at the end decided to include it.

What does Barnes do really well? Srs, I don't know a whole lot about him. Despise GS.

He's a decent player, but he has an unprecedented aura of 'meh' about him.

Okay maybe not as much as Marvin Williams has/had throughout his career, but he's kinda close.

Maybe he's just biding his time and is going to take the league by storm, idk, but he just seems too unnatural out on the court at times. He's young, though, (right?) and would no doubt be a solid upgrade to the rotation over in SLC world, so it might be a good idea to explore. I have talked myself into it.

Agreed, more over we already have Hayward handling the ball, offensively we just need Barnes to hit open 3's and occasionally slash to the basket for a dunk. He seems efficient enough to do those things consistently well.

And you think GS would be a willing partner? Dealing Barnes, who is a great fit, only saves them about $2M (based on our draft pick costing about $2M in rookie salary).

I'd be all for getting Barnes if it could be done. I'm just saying a wing is not necessarily the ONLY way to go. And, in fact, if DL is interested in "speeding things up," the logical step might just be to give the team a more experienced and better PG. Even IF Dante is our PGOTF (which I think he is), he's a couple years away from being a top-15 player at his position.

Curry will demand a substantial raise though... so they'll have to consider that. Plus they'll need some bigs once Bogut's contract is up either as a project (our picks) or in FA (the cap space).

Wait a second, why would they trade Barnes for a pick they will have to pay the same amount of money to? let's trade them a future first and a second round pick, plus a euro asset or something.

The first year. Then his contract is up.
