Just when we thought he had "turned the corner"...

Westbrook was playing so good and so smart in recent weeks that I was just about to buy in to the notion that he was finally maturing and had put behind him his foolish ways on the basketball court.....when THIS happened last night: 12-38 from the field, 1-10 from 3 point land and they lose in overtime to a Suns team playing the 2nd of a back to back! He missed 26 SHOTS!!! Here's some classic comments about last nights game:

''It was an epic battle,'' Phoenix's P.J. Tucker said. ''They both played really well, we just came out on top.''

News flash, Tucker...when you miss 26 shots and are 1-10 from downtown, you did not play "really well!"

"Bledsoe just missed a triple-double with 28 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. He took 22 fewer shots than Westbrook and made one fewer basket."

...now THAT'S playing real well!

''Honestly, I think I was actually shooting too much,'' Westbrook said. ''I think I got to do a better job of trusting my teammates more. I am not saying I don't, but consistently trusting them regardless of what is going on, regardless of the time, score and possession. Just find a way to trust them and let them make some plays as well.'

....thanks for being "honest" there, kid! Stevie Wonder would have drawn the same conclusion, though!

Well, let's see if he bounces back tonight on t.v. again against the Blazers. If he does.....I'll cut him some more slack! If he misses 20 plus shots again....well, let's just say you can't teach a hopper new tricks!

Well, it's at least a positive sign that Westbrook realized he was shooting too much after the game. Obviously it would be better to realize and correct during the game, but this is still a sign of progress imo.

And good hell, the dude still had hella rebounds n assists anyway

He bouncepassed the ball to Enes in a fastbreak and the obvious happened: Ball went out of Enes' legs. Never a good idea to bounce pass to a big let alone Enes on breaks. This is not the first time and this time he did not turn around at Enes and said the new guy relaxation line: My bad. This time he just walked away. I called it after the first game of Enes at OKC: Russ murders Kanter in a few weeks.

Well, I'm not buying into it anymore. Another triple double....AND.....another loss! An absolutely turrible out of control forced shot with less than a minute to go (an airball in the lane, by the way) highlighted the bonehead play of the night for Westbrook. Of course, the knot-head that fouled him 45 feet from the basket with 3 seconds to go, sending him to the foul line for 3 foul shots actually trump that!

I agree. The Thunder should cut him. They would certainly be a better team without Westbrook. He's holding them back.

...don't be ridiculous! But if they expect to contend for a championship in a 7 game series with the better teams.....he needs to stay under control and use his head as something besides a "hat rack"! In the playoffs, the smarter teams know they have to slow the pace down and keep the other team from running out on fast breaks. You do that with the Thunder and they can be had. The kid is overwhelmingly talented with pure athletic ability, but without using more basketball smarts, they ain't gonna advance to the finals.....either conference or otherwise!

He averaged 31, 11 and 9 in February. What the Fuuuuu are you talking about?

I'm talking about he had 3 triple doubles in a row....and lost 2 of them! What does that tell ya? It tells us that although talented and very athletic.....he still makes enough bonehead plays and forces enough bonehead shots to lose the game for his team!

At one point l(I think early 4th quarter) Westbrook hit Singler in perfect stride for an open fastbreak layup. Singler missed the layup. I think after that point Westbrook went into "I'm taking every shot" mode. It's clear he loses trust in his teammates easily, which is probably his biggest weakness.

Hilarious.. LOL

Scott Brooks on Russell Westbrook's mask: "Fortunately for all of us, he does not get to choose his own color of the mask."

CJ has a point in this thread. He isn't saying Westbrook sucks, he is just saying he has to trust his teammates more.

Westbrook puts his team in position to win a lot of these games, but he also holds them back from being able to execute and finish the game properly from trying to do too much all the time.

That's the dumbest rule. I remember when Lebron wore the black mask. I thought that was cool a ****. Then the league banned him. I guess since the league can't make any money of it (like they can the brightly color shoes they allow) they don't allow it to be worn. It would be badass if Westbrook came out with a mask that matched his jersey and ish, or just a weird ****ing mask like Westbrook would probably wear.

Well I guess the league is trying to take the intimidation factor out of it... kinda like why taunting gets you a Tech.

But they can wear bright neon shoes? Because they get sponsorship money. No sponsorship money from mask since normal people don't buy and wear mask.

Yeah but I would think a mask is more intimidating than the shoes tho...

And also why he is the most fun to watch. He's a lunatic.
