Westbrook was playing so good and so smart in recent weeks that I was just about to buy in to the notion that he was finally maturing and had put behind him his foolish ways on the basketball court.....when THIS happened last night: 12-38 from the field, 1-10 from 3 point land and they lose in overtime to a Suns team playing the 2nd of a back to back! He missed 26 SHOTS!!! Here's some classic comments about last nights game:
''It was an epic battle,'' Phoenix's P.J. Tucker said. ''They both played really well, we just came out on top.''
News flash, Tucker...when you miss 26 shots and are 1-10 from downtown, you did not play "really well!"
"Bledsoe just missed a triple-double with 28 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. He took 22 fewer shots than Westbrook and made one fewer basket."
...now THAT'S playing real well!
''Honestly, I think I was actually shooting too much,'' Westbrook said. ''I think I got to do a better job of trusting my teammates more. I am not saying I don't, but consistently trusting them regardless of what is going on, regardless of the time, score and possession. Just find a way to trust them and let them make some plays as well.'
....thanks for being "honest" there, kid! Stevie Wonder would have drawn the same conclusion, though!
Well, let's see if he bounces back tonight on t.v. again against the Blazers. If he does.....I'll cut him some more slack! If he misses 20 plus shots again....well, let's just say you can't teach a hopper new tricks!
