Following potential 2015 draftees

No? Dude is a still a defensive beast. It's not like Exum is having much more success than Smart. I'm sure Smart's best performances have been better than Exum's.

Not saying I would take Smart over Exum, just think it's way premature to think Smart is a bust, especially if you aren't going to say the same about Dante.

Well Smart did have 2 years of college... anyway only time will tell. I still don't think the Celtics have their PG of the future.

Replacing Burke this early would be short-sighted.

Inefficient O and bad defensively. No doubt he could improve his efficiency, but it's far more likely he'll always be streaky with no real feel for when he's shooting us out of games. On the other hand, I see no realistic scenario where he becomes a decent defender. Upgrading Burke could be one of the best ways to improve the team next year. No need to dump him for the sake of dumping him, but Utah should definitely be looking at upgrading Burke if the right opportunity presents itself.

I really like his passing in that video. He's also more mobile than I thought.

He reminds me of Dirk more than Porz does.

I remember how good Kelly Olynyk looked in the NCAAs and in summer league. It hasn't materialized in the pros quite the same, but I do see Kaminsky as a viable player. He's probably better than Cody Zeller, which says what exactly, I don't know...

Olynyk was not close to the 3 point shooter Kaminsky is.

Olynyk shot 30% on .9 attempts per game his last season of college; Kaminsky is shooting 41% on 2.6 attempts per game.

I'll have to watch Kaminsky more to have a real feel for his overall game, but he without a doubt has more potential as a stretch big.

I agree with Freakazoid that there are only a few ways to improve this current Jazz team, given where we'll be drafting:

1) Replace Trey Burke with a better 2-way PG or combo-guard. Grant could be that player, but he's only 33% shooting 3s. I would love to say Devin Booker is a combo, but I don't think he'll be quick enough with the ball to actually do that. Maybe you pick up Booker just to get another shooter, let him handle the ball a bit with Hayward on the floor and worry about other things later.

2) Replace Trevor Booker and Jeremy Evans with a more skilled PF or combo-forward who can really shoot the ball. That could be Portis. I suppose Kaminsky could come into play. It would be really awesome to have a PF who can put the ball on the floor and create a bit, as well as shoot out to 3-pt range. We're just not going to get that outside the top 10.

3) Bring in a back-up C so Gobert and Favors can get some rest. If Turner slips, I might be into taking him. Or, again, this is a role we could give to Kaminsky.

Given the dual need for a stretch shooter and a back-up C, I think we'd better start looking at Kaminsky more...

Edit: I forgot the Jazz might be bringing Tomic over next year, so maybe back-up C is taken care of.

I think people are sleeping on this guy. All they see is a goofy looking white dude. If you watch him in a game he dominates and does so many things well. He is a super duper version of olynyk IMO. He's like a better passing Memo... Has that slow drive and runner game when guys close out.

Also Olynyk has been one of the leaders in RPM for centers since he came into the league. Dude is effective. I would be on board with Frank the Tank. Think he could contribute in his rookie year. Obviously if we bring over tomic then frank wouldn't play much if at all.

I don't think rookies are the answers to any of those questions, especially the point guard one.

I liked turner at the beginning of the year but after watching him I think he could be a bust. He grew a bunch though and I think his coordination is trying to catch up with his body. He is a project nonetheless.

Haven't watched Portis... I like the idea of him. Why doesn't he shoot more threes.

Because they need him to board.

Will he stretch it to 3 in da league? Is so he may be the best fit with our current group assuming one of the euro centers comes over.

Hey guys, it's been awhile. Been real busy with basketball season.

Can someone bring me up to date with who we think would be a good pick for the Jazz at their current spot?

A couple guys who I've watched play and think would be a solid pick is Justise Winslow and Kelly Oubre.

Then there is the big guys, Frank Kaminksy, Kevon Looney, Kristaps Porzingis, Myles Turner, not really too sold on any of those guys at the moment. I do love me some Willie Cauley-Stein, though not sure if the Jazz are targeting bigs if Tomic comes over? Not even sure if those guys will be available anyways, I've seen all of those guys in the top-10 in most mocks except for Kaminsky.

Not sure where Stanley Johnson's stock is at right now (#5 on DX, #12 on ESPN), but I've watched Arizona play a lot this year and would love it if the Jazz could somehow come away with him in the draft. Also, Devin Booker is another guy to keep an eye on, dude is the best shooter in the draft.

What are the Jazz's needs? Do they see Exum as the PG of the future?

It would be cool to have Kaminsky on the team cuz I think he is a boss, but I just don't feel like he could play alongside Gobert defensively. Seems like it would force him too much out to the perimeter.

Help me understand this sentence. What is "it" and who is "him"? The reason I ask is that I too think it would be cool to have Kaminksy and I think he is a boss as well, but I don't see why he couldn't play with Gobert defensively. Seems like he would be a great fit next to Gobert on both ends. I'm willing to be educated, however.

(edit) Maybe you are saying that "it" - playing with Gobert - would pull "him" - Kaminsky - out and he'd have trouble with the quicker 4s. If so, I guess I can see that to an extent, though those quicker 4s would have trouble defending Kaminsky on the other end too.
