Following potential 2015 draftees

It would be cool to have Kaminsky on the team cuz I think he is a boss, but I just don't feel like he could play alongside Gobert defensively. Seems like it would force him too much out to the perimeter.

Would be nice to have Kaminsky coming off the bench for 20-25 min a night though, no?

Yeah, but would it be more sweet to have Bobby Portis? Or someone else?

Depends, Portis could totally be a guy that never gets off the bench and is out of the league when his rookie contract is up. I have more faith in Kamkinsky being a solid role player than I do Portis even though Portis ceiling is higher.

I wonder what the opinion will be on Kaminsky when his wingspan measurements come out. Let me go Fabtrey for a second, he is going to have a smaller wingspan than his height.

Hayward's wingspan is shorter than his height I'm pretty sure.

I haven't watched Portis at all... What makes you think he could bust?

If we aren't bringing over tomic then frank the tank is a no brainer to me unless hezonja or Johnson falls to us.

Nah, it was an inch longer than his barefoot height.

I'm not saying wingspan is a huge deal to me, but it is kind of important for big men. Just curious how far he will fall in people's eyes. 4th year lottery picks don't have a good track record.

Its a pretty big deal imo. Length is the biggest physical difference between the NBA now and the NBA of the past. Players are fairly close to the same height but are much much longer nowadays. Especially with Kaminskys limited jumping ability his wingspan will be a big deal imo. Hopefully its not too short as this would affect my opinion of him.

My biggest concern with Kaminksy is his release on his jumper. He has a hard time shooting threes when defended fairly closely due to a low and fairly average release in terms of speed. Memo, Dirk and other productive big men who bomb from long distance can get their shot off, where Frank struggles at times. In the post, I don't worry too much as he has an array of nifty post moves, is crafty and smart and has a nice jump hook he can always go to.

Maybe we could use Olynyk as a comparison. Similar age when he came out, similar wingspan measurements. Kelly was a lottery pick, and he's been fine on offense for Boston (plus there was news that we liked him).

I think Frank was a better college player than Kelly. Not sure how he'll rank against him when he hits the NBA

The threat of the shot alone causes spacing nightmares for the defense, regardless if the release is slow. We wouldn't need him to be prime Channing Frye. Plus, release speed improves with time. Okur wasn't curry in his first year in the NBA

I think that he is a better version of olynyk or potentially even Memo. He is a better shooter than Kelly was and is bigger. He is also a good passer. I think people see the big white dude and don't think he's any good or it won't translate.

Frank has a PER of 36.1 right now... 5 points higher than Okafor. He might be the most NBA ready prospect in college basketball. I don't think his ceiling is all star high but I think his floor will be Channing frye.

Exactly this.

You don't draft Kaminsky to come off curls and get a shot off. You draft him for his ultra sound skillset, his ability to be effective immediately, size AND his ability to stretch the floor. He only needs to show he CAN hit out to 3pt range or a bit inside and that alone is worth court time.

Kaminsky isn't a sexy pick at all but he's the kind of player contending teams must have, if I'm projecting him correctly.

I don't really have a dog in this fight in terms of the draft this year. I'm just excited Cuz I really really think we can get a good player with the 10th-14th pick. Our two biggest needs are backup big & three-point shooting wing, so Booker & Kaminsky come to mind. Hopefully we can bring over Tomic

Right. If my biggest concern is the release on his jumper, you can see I'm not very concerned about Frank. I'd love to have him.

Too be honest I'm not really sure. I just watch him and think "Could this dude translate his game to the NBA?" And I'm not confident he can. I am also a dumb *** so take it for what its worth.

All of this. I think we can add a really solid piece around 12, and there are plenty of guys I'd be good with. I have a lot of faith in the Jazz FO right now, so if it's Booker, Kaminsky, Oubre or whoever, I'll trust them.
