Good thread.
Hand/arm strength and catching and securing the ball in traffic/finishing through contact, lower body strength... go-to offensive move might be good too...
If he's going to play post-ups he needs to work on that. I feel like with him moving to his more natural position at the 4 he can lose some weight in favor of more speed and agility.
For me it was weird that even with the all the muscle he gained he almost never posted up. He should try it and work on it. To me he looks really crafty and can possibly exploit some matchups.
I know what you mean. Defenders were taking charges against him constantly in the beginning of the season. I actually think he's been really successful at sidestepping them and using eurosteps to avoid them after he returned from his injury. I'd like to see him gain more strength and in work on his general fitness. I don't know what his problems with the gastric distress are, some people have suggested he has anxiety problems. If that's so, the Jazz might be wise to look into getting him help.
Decision-making and 3p shooting. Defensive improvements - closelouts, screen navigation, team defense. I want to see him take the wide-open 3s. I don't want to see him hesitating, I don't want to see him dribbling before he makes a decision about what to do(and in most cases driving). If he's open for a 3, I'd love to just see him shoot it. I don't know if anyone would dare suggest that to him, since he's already shooting above average for the league from 3, but ideally I'd like for him to fix his shooting mechanics. That leg kick he does on his shot is ugly as **** and needs to go. It's really bad for him being on balance when shooting.
Shooting.
HANDLE!!! HANDLE!!! HANDLE!!! Conditioning and strength. I actually don't feel like he needs to gain much if any weight.
He plays short in the lane. That needs to stop. He's one of the longest players on his position and he fears to play his size. He needs to take a look at his old games with Australia U19, hoop summit, etc. Needs to work on his touch around the basket as well. Needs to work on physicality! I don't want to see him avoiding contact at all cost next year.
Agree.
