I just don't think Burke has a lot going for himself. He's undersized, yet not fast and not a good shooter. He's not suddenly going to get fast and I don't think a player goes from shooting as bad as he does to being a good shooter. He might improve his shooting but to what degree? His ceiling is being an undersized, slow, almost average shooter who is selfish and has a tendency to chuck.
Sink.
Yeah but an undersized poor shooter needs to make up for that somewhere. Being average speed is a very bad thing for a guy like Burke.I am by no means a Burke supporter; however, I keep hearing that he is slow. Seriously, he's not super quick like Curry, Lillard, or Lawson, but he's not really slow either. Probably just average or a little below average for a point guard in the NBA.

Swim?
He will walk on the water next season. 42/37%, FG & 3P%
This year to start the year he was being asked to play defense and run the offense. Pass the ball within the offense, run the PNR and make open jumpers. So I have a hard time with the statement he was being asked to do too much. I don't buy it. I just don't think he fits the system our starters run. And next year our whole team should be running it. The one guy on this team most guilty of not running the offense was Trey Burke. We've never allowed Burke to play to his strengths. He has been asked to do too much. He isn't good enough to do what we've asked him to do. I think he will be a lot better next year with a healthy Burks and improvement from Exum and Hood. He can play within himself more. I think he will be just fine next year.
The majority want to throw him to the wolves. I still like him today as a back up at least. I just want to give him this offseason to improve.
I dont see the harm in it. Give him until the all-star break to show solid improvement or we go with other options. The great thing is we already have other assets. Neto and Cotton. I think we should enjoy having all this young talent, and let the cards fall where they may. Yes, I think Burke still has a chance to be our starter, and be the leader of this team. Right now Im leaning thats hes a lifetime back up in this league, but hes still got a chance to do more. Hes only had two years. I'm willing to give him a little more time. Although for us his time is running out because we have the assets behind him to use. I think Burke is going to have a great offseason, and make it very hard for us to let him go next year.

What are Burke's greatest strengths? Serious question. He's not a terrible player but I can't think of a single thing he does at an above average level. Defense? nope, Passing? nah, Shooting? Not that either, how about running the offense? Only if the offense is get Burke a contested shot. I just don't see any skill Burke has that is likely to ever be better than average. And he'd have to improve to get to average in most if not all of those.Shooting is the one skill you most consistently see players get better at. The next skill is defense.
This game more than anything is about working hard. Trey has more than enough talent. He'll get stronger, shoot 1000's of jumpers a day, gain better endurance to play both ends, become a more crafty ball handler. This is the year you expect a big jump. If it's a matter of work making that jump I'm betting on Burke.
The one thing I do agree with that most detractors of Trey is that this team and system doesn't necessarily fit Burke's greatest strengths.
Welcome to Jazzfanz, BTW, great to have you!!

Well then there's really nothing to talk about. If you don't see anything Burke does then me telling you won't impact your opinion at all.
