Tomic offered buyout:

You would think it would be in Tomic's best interest to sign a 2-year deal to play in the NBA.

Worst case scenario: He sucks and still go back to Euroleague and be paid nicely

Best case: He gets a Tiaggo Splitter contract for his 2nd contract (super attainable especially given the upcoming salary cap boost).

Yeah, I imagine he will want something along the lines of what Mirotic got which is around mid level money.

Score!!!!!! Love the full front court of
Gobert/Tomic
Favors/Booker
Hayward/Hood

Go Jazz!!!!

True... I hope the Jazz can get a 3rd year team option.

A group of bigs made up of Favors, Gobert, Tomic, Booker is, frankly, insane. There's a lot of differing skillsets there that can be used in different combinations and pretty much a tool for anything an opposing team would throw at us in the 4/5 positions. Quin has to be thrilled.

I actually think Tomic - with his passing - will complement Booker really well off the bench, given how well Booker moves without the basketball and his emerging stretch game.

Tomic, Booker, the new pick, Burks or Hood (I'm thinking Burks) and all the other guys improving...holy hell I'm loving the bench.

On another note, I can't fathom why any professional basketball player wouldn't want to play in the NBA. Not being American-centric here at all...the NBA is the highest level league in the world. To me it would be like a soccer player from the US not wanting to play in the England/Spain/Italy/Germany leagues.

Tomic probably likey the Spanish women.

Article in March. No follow up. Nothing to see here.

To make him comfortable here wonder if they'll go get Hezonja in the draft. Just like they got Ingles for Exum.

Slow down tiger, Tomic would make the Jazz very, very good but it hasn't happened yet even though it looks very promising. We still have a major issue to address and that is PG position. Dante may yet be the man of the future but he has to improve dramatically before we start chompionshiping. Burke is still in the Jazz mix in my opinion and he isn't quite ready to lead us to titles either. That all said this is great news and definitely make the Jazz an elite team potentially.

DL and others already addressed the PG position and how they view it as less of an issue than some fans.
With the ability to run the offense from other positions, the main priority of a PG will be less of being the main distributor/assist man. While that is still the main priority, there will be an increased focus on maybe bringing the ball up, defense, 3pters and keeping the ball flowing and moving just as all other positions should. Our PG won't be required to be either a Westbrook or a Paul clone where they dominate the ball in different ways.

Yes...but that said we still don't have someone who can play the 1 defensively AND shoot over 38%. As you mentioned we don't need a playmaker but we do need a reliable shooter at that position. Defensively I just don't see Burks being able to be the PG behind Dante but that might be tried.

Problem with Burks at the PG theory I think is I don't know if Burks is quick or agile enough to be chasing around quicker PGs. Exum being quick enough to stay in front of opposing PG sets up the whole defense for us nicely.

January 30th, 2015

Dennis Lindsey on Ante Tomic: "We are in constant contact with Ante. If he's not the best big man in Europe, he may be the most effective."

March 6th, 2015

The Utah Jazz have let FC Barcelona's Ante Tomic know they are willing to pay his buyout.

March 16th, 2015

Jesus Perez Ramos: During these last weeks there has been much speculation about your future. Have you already taken a decision on this?

Ante Tomic: Still do not know anything, everything is open and everything is possible. At the moment this is all I can say.

Jesus Perez Ramos: One possibility is to go to the NBA. Do you have that in mind? Is your desire?

Ante Tomic: At 28, right now this is my last train to the NBA. There are options, but for now I will not say anything more than this.

Jesus Perez Ramos: Are you talking with FC Barcelona about re-signing?

Ante Tomic: Yes, but there's also the NBA. Let's see what happens at the end of the season.

Jorge Sierra: Jazz draftee Ante Tomic has been more vocal recently about the possibility of moving to the NBA than ever before. This week, he told Spanish newpaper El Mundo Deportivo that this is probably his "last train to the NBA" at age 28.

"He has so much talent offensively, his passing is a great asset for any team and that's the thing I like the most about him," the Eastern Conference scout said.

"He would be a good fit in Utah with such big guys," according to the Eastern Conference scout. "Gobert is all energy and hard work, but doesn't possess Tomic's talent. Tomic is just the opposite of him. That's a fantastic and complementary duo to have and I think Quin Snyder is a good coach that can get the best out of him."

"I think that his game would translate to the NBA – he is 7-foot-2, has good hands, great feel for the game, runs the floor pretty well," the Western Conference scout said. "He should find his niche as a rotational player who takes advantage of favorable matchups – preferably under a more traditional, post-oriented coach who prefers to initiate the offense through high post and elbows."

March 28th, 2015

David Pick: I’m hearing that the Utah Jazz have informed Barcelona of their intentions to buy-out Ante Tomic this offseason. I’d like to think Tomic is headed for the NBA, like I said before – it’s now or never for him.

If anybody has some quotes on Tomic from DL's latest interview, please feel free to add to this.

Yes, put as little of shooting on the floor as possible is the new pattern of thinking.

wut? you think the spacing with Gobert-Tomic will be much/any different than with Gobert-Favors? If so, please provide evidence of why.

Anyone know when it was that Quin coached Tomic?
I don't think he ever coached him. I believe somebody got that wrong. I believe he has coached against him and seen him while coaching in one of the European leagues. At least that is what I remember reading.
