2015 NBA Playoffs

This. Jazzfanz is getting a little too caught up in the idea of defensive identity. Utah needs some shooting to balance things out.

Yep but I believe DL knows that as well and is smart about what happens in Memphis and why they couldn't win. Same about the shaky spacing of the Bulls. You really need very good shooter if you play with both Faves and Gobert at the same time. And that's why I think Burks isn't our man for long.

He's our man off the bench. Perfect for that role.

Burks has gotten better and better at shooting since he came into the league and last season shot a career high from 3 and was one of the best shooters on our team.

I don't know if he works if he doesn't have a lead ball handler role. The "point god" role with heroball tendencies as a notorious on and off poster on this site has himself named and if that can be meshed efficiently with the rest of the core. We'll see I guess... I'm also not sure how much defense he's willing to play. That's a problem. As long as KD and some others are in the West, you really need one really exceptional individual wing defender who plays rotation minutes to really bother him in a playoff series. I don't see that on our current roster.
(Other than KD the West is really guard-dominant, where we're looking pretty fine with Exum as a versatile long guard who likes defense. But there's always the next big wing talent and in the finals you need an answer for the load of dominant wings)

It's not only the %, it's also volume and consistency. I don't dislike Burks, I just don't think he's the best fit considering the rest of the roster. And guys like Gobert and Favors are much more rare to find compared to a competent wing. I think you need really killer shooting, both spot up and off the dribble to create a playoff worthy offense around "twin towers".
Look no further than the Spurs. They basically lost this year because their roster makeup was designed to beat OKC and LeBron.
They didn't have that guy who could deteriorate Chris Paul and reveal all his bad habits. Their twin tower setup was "too stiff" to deal with the dynamic Blake Griffin, while it would have probably been enough to limit Serge Ibaka and handle Tristan Thompson. The Cavs could also have been "countered" by utilizing Boris against both Love and Thompson.
The Spurs would have encountered the same problems against the Warriors I think. They really needed to go through Portland, Memphis, Houston or Dallas to the conference finals where the extra rest could have helped them out a little against their younger opponents.

Clippers shouldn't feel bad.

It takes a special team to beat the Rockets on their homecourt in a Game 7 :D
