What's new

Lyles is the pick at 12

I think Jazz are going to try and make a good trade but has to wait until FA July 1st. Hope something pans out. If not Lyles could be our stretch 4 and backup 3 versatility guy they want. They could go small with him at Center if needed.

We have a good team, and we are okay with a project with looks like what lyles is.

We still need to get a center and Lyles is not getting many minutes unless we move Booker. Or he is the third SF and third PF who gets 3-5 minutes a game at both spots.
Hopefully that's the case. We're taking on salary but can't do it until July 1st when we can trade the draft rights to Lyles.

This would also put the lid on the Millsap rumors. Why pursue Millsap and blow a lottery pick on a guy who gets buried deep on the bench? Well, I guess because you don't want him shooting the ball. Limited sample size but 13.8% on COLLEGE threes. Yep, sounds like the PERFECT stretch-4 to me!

Didn't really like Lyles, but I like that the Jazz recognized they needed a legit 3rd big and one who has real skill offensively and definite potential to be a stretch 4. He didn't hit the 3 at Kentucky, but the shooting stroke is solid and he should improve without much problem. He's a versatile big man with good length and athleticism who can put it in the floor. Didn't show much at UK, but the natural ability is there and he fills a major need on the Jazz.

Man whatever.

I hate this pick, but we have to try to like it a little.

He doesn't look athletic, but on some of his dunks he kinda looks like he could be sneaky athletic. He is only 19. He could learn to be more athletic. I believe it's somewhat possible.

His length combined with sneaky athleticism could be a good enough combination.

I can at least see hope in his hops and running the floor. His first step is what really scares me.

I think the Jazz drafted need over the best available. At least he is should be better then that garbage we got in the trade for Kanter.

I was speaking to the overwhelming response from known trolls.

And I hate to break it to you but you and almost everyone here is uninformed regarding draft picks.

And yet, still more informed than the guy who just watched this player for the first time. 4 for 27 from the college 3, but let's draft him to be a stretch 4 cuz his form looks nice. Sorry, normally I would be right along side you with the wait and see approach, but like I said, this is one of only 2 players I really didn't want, and my uninformed opinion has been pretty accurate in the past.
.
Here's what my uninformed opinion got right week's ago in this draft:
.
Russell to the Lakers with Towns first and Okafor 3rd
Mudiay dropping out the top 4
Hezonja being the first wing taken
.
Obviously we are all just amateurs here, but it doesn't mean that we are all just guessing like fans who don't pay much attention. I'm right more often than wrong, but I will happily eat my share of crow if Lyles turns out to be a good pick.

The Jazz didn't have a major need.

There were a handful of other players I would have been happy with. So yeah, I stand by what I said. Utah could have gotten a pretty good player at #12. I just don't think that guy is Lyles.

And I don't see how Lyles fits. He's not a stretch-4. Guy can't even hit a college 3. I'd rather see Favors or Trevor Booker shooting from deep than this guy (or even Trey Burke). Maybe he's good around the rim, but that's NOT what DL and QS have been preaching that we need. We need shooters to space the floor. Lyles is NOT a shooter.

I wasn't asking for an explanation.

Two-time Olympian, multiple all-star Carlos Boozer? Yeah, how awful.
The one who always gave 100% on defense, played through injuries (or came back as quickly as he could from them), put the team first and wanted to win more than "just having fun." Yes, that Carlos Boozer!

Then what was your point in quoting me? I was excited about several players who were going to be available at #12. I hate the Lyles pick. That doesn't make my original post invalid. Is your hatred of me that strong?
