What's new

Is Pulp Fiction the greatest film ever?

You know little about my taste in movies. I've seen seven on your top # list. Most I liked though Rashomon never did it for me.

I saw your comedy list, and I didn't feel you'd like Primer, which I personally hated.

Edit: i.e. because I liked most of the comedies on your list.

Pineapple express was definitely a good one.
What did you think of This Is The End?.... I loved it. Topic Thunder too
Danny Mcbride is one of my favorites

Tropic Thunder is a brilliant comedy. Probably one of the best comedies of all time up there with Super Troopers. The Jerk is on that list too, imho.

Watching #1 now because of how strongly you feel about it.

What'd ya think? Not the easiest movie to grasp on the first watch. There's more paradoxes, loopholes, loose ends, events without explanation, chronologies that don't seem to fit, Than any movie you can find. Really, it's to be watched a few times.

I think it makes Back to the Future look like the Teletubbies.

Once you start to really piece it together though, It's a masterpiece. Its totally the type of movie that people write off as boring, yet they probably don't really understand the concepts involved with all the timelines and possible outcomes involved.

Shane Carruth who wrote, directed, edited the movie, composed the score, and starred in it is a genius.

Pretty good list though I think fsm sucked...... Still love it though because mila kunis is my favorite hottie of all time and she never looked better than in that movie

Also if you have not seen Spy yet, check it out

Edit: super troopers should be on every top ten comedy list no matter what

FSM is so rewatchable. So many great characters in there. The British dude, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, and one of my faves, Billy Baldwin.

Pulp Fiction is definitely one of the best films from the 90's.

Here's one of my favorite's from the 90's and its French(Starring 'the fox' from oceans 12). - La Haine

Another low-budget GEM;

Did you just see Primer just once?? I've never shown it to anyone that's understood what's going on in the first viewing. There's really a lot of minute details that will leave you thinking "oh, ****"

E.G.
When Abe and Aaron first both go thru the machine. Abe gets out of the machine, but Aaron doesn't. Abe looks at his watch, walks around the other machine to see if Aaron has come out yet, but nothing is there, then like a minute later, Aaron comes out and Abe tells him "You got out too early."

If Abe came out first, then Aaron, how is it that Aaron got out "early" if Abe came out first?

Figure that out, and after each watch the movie will start coming together. It's truly a great movie.

Yeah, I didn't understand what's going on. Maybe I'll watch it again, but I just don't feel it's worth investing multiple viewings just to be able to understand the story. :)

PGAB-

Ever seen Timecrimes, aka Los cronocrímenes? It's a Spanish movie. I think they were rumored years ago to be making an American version, with Eric Bana I want to say...never came to be though.

The Dude is pretty much the most likable character in movie history.
His rug really tied the room together.

I love the part when he is driving his crappy car and listening to CCR and pounding the roof of the car along with the beat and drops his roach. Cracks me up.

I thought that Walter stole the movie though. John Goodman killed it

Ah yes, the jerk. Wonderful. My dad's favorite of all time so of course I love it.

If that movie came out today I wonder how much racism backlash it would get

Probably wrong thread but I started watching true detective season one again cause my wife hadn't seen it.

So ****ing Good
