Summer 2015: FIBA games of Utah Jazz players

No you don't, because then they would have never drafted Gobert.
No, Gobert would have been drafted regardless. Lindsey was in love with him. We have Hayward and Burks and still drafted Hood. We have Favors and Booker and still drafted Lyles.

Could have gotten a LOT more out of trade for JV than what we got for that pile of crap named EK.

So in love with him he blew both picks to move up for Burke, essentially passing on any realistic chance to get Gobert. The Jazz lucked into Gobert, nothing more, nothing less.

Rudy vs Latvia. Notice the post up and left-handed hook at 0:20:

Eurobasket tomorrow.

Couple of classification games first. These are important to determine who will participate in the Olympic qualifying tournaments.

Greece vs Latvia 8MT Should be an easy one for Greece.
Czech Republic vs Italy 10:30 MT Czechs have been surprisingly good this tournament but Satoransky and Vesely bound to be getting tired. As long as Italy can get over the tough loss today they should win.

The big one. France vs Spain 1MT A win equals automatic spot in the Olympics. Will be about 27,000 screaming French fans, but can Gasol who has been playing great carry Spain to victory. Spain has had the much tougher schedule going into this one.

Disagree. It's easy to forget the Jazz greatest need at the time was at PG (still is) and they moved up for the best PG available. You don't lucked into a player when you spend ton of time scouting him and then get a pick to draft him. The Jazz did their homework on Gobert (Sloan was a big advocate of him due to his work ethic), the thing is that no one expected him to be this good so fast.

That hook shot with his back to the basket is exactly where i hope rudy develops. Adding that hook feels natural, and he looks like he has potential there. The jump shot is not neccessary now.

This post completely discounts that DL found a way to get Gobert. He did not luck into him. You seem to suggest that buying that pick was some sort of accident.

There were no guarantees whatsoever that someone in that range was going to want to sell their picks. If you're in love with someone, you don't give away your picks thinking "meh, I'm sure some team will sell me theirs".

I think both of these thoughts are correct

We don't know what guarantees there might have been. No question that it's riskier to get Gobert the way they did than to use one of their earlier picks, but there is also no question that they ultimately did what they had to do to get him.

Sure, but Jazz4ever was responding to the idea that "Oh no, Gobert would have been drafted anyway since DL loved him so much". That's a silly thing to say considering he didn't even love him enough to draft him with the 21st pick, choosing instead to bundle it with the 14th to get Burke. Nobody is suggesting that he got lucky and drew Gobert's name out of a hat, but he got lucky to find a seller before anyone else drafted Gobert. It's not like he was unheard of. Most mock drafts projected him in the 25-30 range.
