What's new

Utah Jazz @ Miami Heat - 11/12/15 - 5:30pm ROOT

As Ive stated before Hayward is not a #1 player on a championship team. Really good player, love him, but not a top elite player.

Favors has really been the best player early this season. He said he was going to bring it, and has. Really impressed with his game.
Still Favors isnt good enough to carry us either.

We are a team full of good, and we have to have ALL of them playing well to beat good teams. And wait for Hood to develop.

Once Hayward and Favors put it together we'll be closer to where we want to, but will these close losses early in the year hurt us
come crunch time? The answer is yes.

Right now we are a team with 3 pretty good scorers who are all kind of firing off at different times. We just have to get the big 3 (Burks/Hayward/Favors) all going at once.

and we will. I just hope its sooner rather than later so we can win more of these close games. The news isnt bad. We are playing East confrence playoff teams close on the road. The only thing I'm slightly concerned with is the secondary players, and how they will perform in the next 4 weeks. I cant believe how little Booker is giving us.

I can't sleep. Everytime I start dozing off I remember one of Booker's shot attempts and I wake up in a cold sweat.

They absolutely should have beaten Detroit, Cleveland and Miami, but I have to temper my expectations with understanding reasonable growth. . .

Last year, through the first 10 games, Jazz were 4-6 and gave up an average of 102.2 ppg while scoring 97.8 ppg (point differential of - 4.4). So far this year, they're 4-4 and only give up an average of 90.0 ppg while scoring 95.6 ppg (point differential of +5.6 ppg). That's a point differential swing of 10 points for the beginning of last year compared to this year. And that's with Exum injured and Hayward/Hood in a shooting funk.

Also, after the Jazz got their 5th win last year, they lost 12 out of 13 games (including 9 strait losses). They'll be fine. It would have been nice to win a couple of the close games, but the the experience these young guys are getting is invaluable.

Lol at the description:

Acceptable occasions for you to say the phrase "Oh baby it hurts":

-When karaokeing to Millie Jackson's 1973 hit "It Hurts So Good"
-When your girl uses a little too much teeth
-When your girl uses any teeth at all
-When doing the ghost pepper challenge for your fledgling YouTube channel
-When the basketball team you are commentating for loses a hard-fought game by one point

Yesterday Hood was gonna be better than Hayward and Paul George. Today, he's CJ Miles.
I think last night hood had more of a vintage cj miles type performance than a vintage Paul George type performance

That last reverse layup was nuts

Trey leads the Jazz with 12 3pt makes. he's making them at a 48% clip thus far
Alec's got 10 3pt makes, he's at a 63% clip. Hood's got 10 3pt makes shooting at a 26% clip
Haywards got 9, at a 32% clip. (39% from the field overall)
Ingles has 7, at a 41% clip.
Neto has 6 at a 33% clip (missed all 8 he's taken in the past 4 games -- He's also shooting 27% from the field...)

Ya see! You CAN tell alot from a box score.....like Hood shouldn't be taking 3 point shots!

Last year the Jazz were the #1 team with losses within 5 points. Seems that trend continues this year (3 of our 4 losses are 5 points or less). So far at least. The Jazz are right there. However the team is not staying static. There is improvement over last year. Both individual and team.

Examples: Burke, Burks, Favors, total TOs are down, steals are up, opposition assists are down. Jazz are learning brutal lessons right now. Lessons that they need to learn and the sooner the better.

Keep in mind that the schedule is brutal right now. Both in # of road games and quality of opponents. That wont last forever.

Go look at the Jan thru Feb. schedule. It is very reasonable to see the Jazz finish 19-8 (or better) in the 27 games in Jan. and Feb.

The Jazz close out Jan. and open Feb. on a 6 game home stand against Pistons, Hornets, Wolves, Bulls, Nuggets and Bucks. All very winnable.

Also it's not like the west is on fire right now. Aside from the 10-0 soul eating Warriors of course. Jazz are 4-4 and within 1 game of everyone but the Warriors and Spurs. So the Jazz are not even in a hole yet, ESPN still has the Jazz as the 5th seed in their standings! Hell, they are tied with the Nuggets, Wolves, Suns, Rockets and Mavs.

PLAYOFFS HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
