1 last post (watching replays with commercials so I haz time) because there's players worthy of mention and possibly useful ones to the Jazz still yet to be mentioned here.
Newman has turf toe but how funny is it that they lost their opener to Southern.. Ha.. ****ers got Abul Ado though, he's way better than Herard defensively, he's also very athletic for someone 6'10, great pull, I'll be checking in on him more than any other of their prospects, even Kegler. The SEC is loading up.
UK just pulled the most absurd class -- PKM I have a question; What happens if more players declare than expected? whats the # that will open up another scholarship? Lets say Ulis and Briscoe go -- whats the depth chart look like at PG??
Also; What's the next move now that this class is signed so early? early work on 2017 and beyond?
Players worthy of mention early season.
Dedric Lawson, Memphis - Monster showing vs Oklahoma. If he's going to grab ORebs like a PF and go coast to coast like a SF, he'll turn heads. Really impressive outing from Memphis in the loss.
Kyle Kuzma, Utah - Tony Jones seems to be right about him, he actually reminds me a bit of a 2nd round player I once lauded here, James Southerland, Kuzma has much better overall scoring instincts and ability to get his shots off. I fully endorse using one of the 2nd round picks on him if his 3pt shooting goes well.
Isaac Haas, Purdue - This dude is a monster, I've compared him to Aaron Gray, he's clearly greater though, shame on whoever thought Hammons was better.. I'm quite sure he'd be a big hit in Utah as a backup C project. Fully endorse using one of the 2nd round picks on Haas
Patrick McCaw, UNLV - He could easily be one of the big sleepers this year, and so could UNLV, A Marksman that's started off on fire. He's 6'7 and passes the eye test with flying colors. Apparently went from 5'11 to 6'7" late in HS. Seems to have a great deal of potential..
Tacko Fall, UCF - Definite NBA player. I'd take a flier on him in this draft with a 2nd round pick. Better prospect than the 60th pick in the 2015 draft. He can really make some nice catches, shows good body control for someone that size, and he can run. There's obvious potential.
Devin Thomas, Wake Forest - Trevor Booker ish Sr. Extremely productive early on. Strong as an ox, 255lbs and pretty explosive too. If Nance can go in the 1st, he can go in the 2nd.
D.J. Hogg, Texas A&M - Possibly A&M's best shooter since Khris Middleton, I question how much better UNC's Justin Jackson is already. 6'8 Marksman Sf.
Devonte Graham, Kansas - Self is grossly mismanaging Graham, he should be their PG not a SG and his shooting is affected negatively because of it. He's not limited, he's just being forced to play out of position. Under-valued because of it. Certainly shows pro potential.
Brennan Greene, Kansas - Self is grossly mismanaging Greene also. They;d be better off without Selden and Mason. Greene is also under-valued because of Self's tinkering..
Sterling Gibbs, UConn - will be turning 23 at the time of the draft. He might lead UConn in scoring, and shoot a great % from 3on a high volume of attempts.
Tyler Lydon, Syracuse - Faceup 4 with a deft touch from 3. He's been productive to start. flying under the radar, for now
Duncan Robinson, Michigan - Looks like a 2nd round pick to me. Absolute marksman.
Elijah Brown, New Mexico - 6'4" SG, lefty shooter, started out hot for NM. Son of ex-Cavs coach Mike Brown. Worth keeping track of.
Mike Thorne Jr., Illinois - Charlotte Transfer, turns 23 in May. 6'11" and very productive, pretty good athlete. had games of 24/12 and 21/8 to start, then fouled out and didn't score in 13 minutes vs Providence tonight. (underwhelming performance by Dunn)
Chinanu Onuaku, Louisville - Looks like a better prospect than Harrell. No-brainer in the 2nd round.
James Blackmon, Indiana - under the radar marksman. Trey Lyles good friend. I'd certainly take a flier on him in the 2nd round.
Moses Kingsley, Arkansas - Athletic 6'10 shot-blocker, very productive early on.
Thomas Welsh, UCLA - 7-footer shooting 70% from the field. nuff said
Joel Bolomboy, Weber St. - Looks as advertised. Long-armed, versatile, productive and fairly athletic at 6'8.
Luke Fisher, Marquette - Totally underrated by DX as the 21st best Junior.
Pascal Siakam, New Mexico St. - 6'9" Sophomore from Cameroon. He's athletic and has scored 79 points and grabbed 29 boards in 3 games so far. worth keeping an eye on.
Chris Boucher, Oregon - skinny 6'10 transfer from Canada. Showed very well vs Baylors front line, he's got 25 points 13 rebounds and 7 blocks and is 2/6 from 3, thru 2 games. Worth keeping an eye on
Sure I'm missing a few. Maybe I'll edit this if its bad. Gonna leave it at that for now though. Be easy
P.S. (International bonus)
Petr Corniele moved into DX's 1st round too. He's 6'10 or 6'11 and is shooting 50% from 3 thru 8 games. Worth keeping an eye on for sure.
P.P.S. Dwayne Bacon is killing it so far for FSU.
PPPS Why'd Hayward allow DeRozan to get a full head of steam to throw down the dunk of the season on Rudy
