What's new

Official UofU homer thread

In all seriousness, Roscoe was on record this past offseason as saying that BYU needed to find a home in a P5 conference within the next 3 years. Is he choosing now to leave BYU because he feels that's not gonna happen? Was it just a matter of an offer that was too good to pass up? I don't think he leaves if he absolutely believes BYU is P5 in the next few years.
Probably right.

It's no secret that byu's entire program (not just mendenhall) would love to get into a p5 conference. What university wouldn't? (Other than Notre dame maybe)

And it's no secret that it's not easy to get into a p5 conference. If it were then every school would

Interesting move.
Personally, and only if we must because we get skipped over by all of the other bowls (because we can't turn down an invite to the Vegas and there's no "no repeats" clause), this now makes me WANT to play BYU in the Vegas bowl.
I'd like nothing more than to send Bronco off with a serious beat down.

Props to him for wanting to coach in the Vegas Bowl, BTW.

I called and told my mom (huge BYU fan). She's pretty darn upset.

Not surprisingly, I disagree. IMO, There wasn't enough upside for Utah to play BYU in Vegas before we knew their HC was leaving. Now that they actually have something to rally around, it's even less appealing. Besides, Utah owes Roscoe and BYU jack ****! Let his last loss at BYU come against Washington State before he slips off into the lower half of the ACC standings.

Interesting that he leaves BYU for a middling P5 school. Not a good sign for BYU that your not as attractive to your current HC than a school that hasn't really done anything in a long time. If this is a step up that only says that much more about the current state of BYU football.

Or he didn't think they'd re-up his contract after next season. No way to really know.

Looks like Bronco did this for the money
The Virginia contract blows BYU's money out of the water

I don't know if this was posted but the guy who said all he does is kick bacon down the field was listed amongst pac-12's all time greats:

We're gonna miss ya Tommy!

That's cool. He is a badass and will be missed about as much as any punter has ever been missed.

Can't wait to see him on Sundays

I wish the Broncos would sign him. Their Kicker sucks ***.

Would you want the broncos to use a draft pick on him? Like their last one? I think he is a good enough weapon that you draft him and dont wait to try to get him after the draft.

Crazy thing is that this is not the first time an Emery was involved in a punch in a byu vs utah basketball game.
Google "marshall Henderson Jackson Emery"

I was just telling/talking to my co-worker about this Thursday, he didn't remember it until I mentioned it. He obviously knew Jackson Emery but until he saw Henderson he didn't remember him or the play.

Was going to even post a Youtube link to it but the only one I found is from the stands using a phone, so all shaky and not good quality. So here is a link to a site that has it embedded if you care to watch.

When search Youtube he apparently did lots of stuff while at Ol Miss and I'm sure Cy LOVED him with all his heart.

For the record, that was a very fast swing that looked worse but didn't fully connect. It was more of a swipe elbow that definitely deserved him to get kicked out and suspended even though Jackson Emery over embellished the contact (as he should) and was the type of player that was an instigator hoping to get players to react (maybe not to that extent however) and you can see that's what he was trying to do at the end of that play.

I wasn't as upset (surprisingly) as a lot of other Ute fans are or were for the little Emery's punch (forget his first name) maybe due until I saw several replays did I really see the swing, I was more upset for the look/semi stand over Taylor and the words (whatever they were) that is actually what caught my attention that something happened no the punch or Taylor falling down (I initially thought they just tripped legs). We've all played basketball gave a little extra physicality to get back at someone but words are personal and that's why it bugged me more.

For the U's bowl game, until the local media started in on it, I thought there was no way the U was going to the Vegas bowl. Just because when the U was in the MWC as I remember it the PAC10 would send it's 7th or 8th bowl eligible team, now things may have changed but that's just how I remember it being talked about. So standing wise the U would be the 3rd or 4th bowl eligible team and so besides going last year it just seems the U should be getting a better bowl game then last year given their record (even with the not so good ending of the season).

I think it is the 4th or 5th ranked pac12 team that is supposed to go to Vegas. Im not sure at all though, just seems like I heard that somewhere

The local media is all over it because it would be a 3 week feeding frenzy and make their job easier. While its likely to happen anyway, it seems like the local media is trying to will it to happen, which is already chapping my ***. If they end up facing off, I'm going on a message board/twitter boycott for my own sanity.

6th. There is little to gain for going to that bowl, last year we killed Colorado State but it did nothing as we came into this season unranked.

Going to Vegas and facing BYU would be a punch in the groin to every Ute involved, i would rather be in the freaking cactus bowl.

A punch in the groin both figuratively and literally given BYU's style.

A punch to the groin to anybody that has to watch a ute team that is nearly insufferable to watch play offensive football. As a BYU fan, I'd much prefer Cal, Wazzu or USC, but the problem is the other bowls feel the same.
