Official UofU homer thread

The biggest blow to the rivalry is that it's not the last game of the season anymore, those were intense regardless of record or conference affiliation....you're kidding yourself as a Utes fan if you're not a little pumped for this game
I am? Hmm. I guess I'll have to take your word for it because obviously you would know how I feel about this better than me.

Well I'm not pumped for this game. I'm not kidding myself. I'll probably get more pumped as the game itself gets closer but I do that for every game.

I had a bit of an epiphany about our "rivalry" with Colorado.

Now that we're in the same conference as Colorado, and now that playing them could potentially be a big deal when it comes to Pac-12 standings and bowl game outcome, all it's going to take is for Colorado to get back to relevance.

As soon as that happens, you KNOW that with the Colorado game being the last regular season game of the year, the rivalry will start to grow. It just needs a few games that mean something. Losing to Colorado sucks now, because it hurts us. But them winning doesn't do much, because they're not really relevant. As soon as we're BOTH relevant, as soon as both programs are successful, the games will take on a new feel.

I can see this. I can see a time in the future that Colorado is our biggest rival. Once upon a time USU was a bigger rival to Utah than BYU, then the conferences changed and Byu became the biggest rival. That was before my time but that is what I was told. Could it be 10-20 years from now the BYU/Utah rivalry is as dead as the Utah/USU one has been for 20+ years? I actually think this is inevitable.

Not real classy and probably shouldn't have been said but it doesn't bother me at all. It's just trash talk and byu has been caught on the field doing dirty **** recently quite often so he does have a point.
What's more classy, punching a guy in the junk, or calling out a guy caught for punching a guy in the junk? This is a non issue to me. Easy to call a team dirty when they have been caught making dirty plays repeatedly. Also supposedly he has a few close friends on BYU and this is probably mostly talking smack.

You basically just repeated what I said minus one sentence

I mostly agreed with you. I quoted your post for that one sentence.
I don't think what he said was classy.... I also don't have a problem with it. It was a form of mild trash talk. The ute players know it, the byu players know it, whitt knows it. But it was no big deal.

I have never heard any trash talk that is classy. Not Austin collies or max halls, or urinal cakes of the other team.
To me it's all part of the rivalry, but it's never something considered to be classy. Whether true or not.

Maybe there is talk of this in another thread but how bout them Runnin' Utes. Suck it Duke, can't stand them.

I swear to god they're ref'd by the names on their jerseys (the front) I don't want a lot of them because I can't stand them but the games and/or parts of games (outside of the U playing them) just seems they get the benefit more than the other team they're playing, anyyywaaay....

So so so happy that Brandon Taylor wasn't able to blow this game for the U, I appreciate everything he's done for the program but I won't be too sad when he graduates this year.

Okay enough with my negativity, I truly truly am ssoooooo happy they beat Duke, hope this gives them the confidence needed to finish games and momentum going into the PAC12 schedule.

Congrats on the huge win against Duke! Pretty badass! Congrats on no longer having to watch Travis Wilson play as well! ;)

I am honestly surprised they won as many games as they did when he suited up. He seems like a nice kid but clearly is at best a mediocre QB.

Congrats on the win, that was a pretty amazing start. From the 3rd TO on in that 1st quarter I just could not stop laughing.

Also congrats on that Duke win, nice one.
