Official UofU homer thread

Personally, I wish Pease had a few more years in him. He's awesome.

I hope Scalley will excel. He sure seems to have earned his shot.
No doubt, Pease has done a great job. I'm just saying that at 72 this can't be much of a surprise to anyone.

BTW, have you ever heard Kyle Gunther talk about Pease? Hilarious!

I like scalley. Good move

Oh I hadn't heard, strange my phone didn't alert me, or I didn't hear about it on the radio during lunch.

Also, yes I have heard Gunther talk about him and it is always funny and entertaining stories.

I am hoping to hear about the WR coach as well, I always assumed A Rod would go back to coaching WR (along with keeping his co-coordinator job) and they would bring in a QB coach who also would be 'Known' for his recruiting.

I think is was Hans Olsen on the radio today that said Scalley was already a big part of defensive game-planning as well as in game play calling for the defense.

John Pease has retired..... again.

Morgan Scalley is the new DC.

Interesting.
This is honestly the first time I've opened this thread, and I promise to try not to troll (I actually really like good discussion between the Utah and BYU fans), but I was wondering what was being said about this.
I wonder if Whittingham promised Scalley the job when Kalani left for OSU but brought in Pease to mentor him for another year, maybe hoping to get two or even three years.
I also wonder if Whitt will call plays for a couple years.

I hadn't opened a thread for your team in years and years myself, with that said. I think most everyone when Pease was hired last year knew it was a 1-2yr plan and most assumed it was to let Scalley have another 1-2yrs knowing he would be the next in line so he would be a bit more prepared for when it did happen.

So we're all being kind of quiet in here about Garrett Bolles.

This is a huge get. I don't think anyone expected that he'd come to Utah. No way.

I will admit to being surprised by the move, but I can't disagree with it. I think the 2 year break in football did the rivalry some good there - took it from unhealthy back to healthy. Maybe the same can be accomplished with a 1 year break with BYU.
