You can win with me. I wasn't really addressing my comment to you.

Using a white dad in the NBA to show the NBA and their fans what a good dad looks like is what it is. I don't think this is a serious issue (the using of a white player) but to act like there isn't a stereotype regarding black fathers is not intellectually honest. Fact is, there is a HUGE problem in poor black neighborhoods (a place where the NBA is probably especially popular) with absent fathers. That's a real problem that needs to be addressed. I don't have a problem with them using Hayward to make their feelgood commercial, but it is a little amusing.

So who's taking this issue a little too seriously? I don't think it's me. I don't think it's Siro.

Maybe it's aimed at white polygamist fathers?

My original comment wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but since it was met with overreaction, I guess I'll respond.

Race doesn't have to be specifically mentioned for a statement to be racist. If you don't see a connection between the stereotype of black men with kids all over town, and the NBA being centered around black men, then we might as well throw the part of the brain that understands context in the trash. The statement only makes sense in relation to the stereotype. Would Mongoose say the same in reference to a similar piece about a Hollywood celebrity? Of course not. It would make no sense, and there would be no need for a philosophical defense about fertility and the nature of fame and power.

Now Mongoose might have been talking about a famous people stereotype that I've never heard of, but his response about not having mentioned race is nonsense. "lol" was more than it deserved, really.

Wow, okay I guess I should comment. I haven't been on here for a few days. I was joking originally. My comment was pointing out the stereotype of pro athletes, specifically NBA players, just as I said... The very reason the NBA would make an add like this is to influence the image of NBA players against comments like mine. I'm surprised no one saw the irony in my post. I was not referencing race whatsoever...

Beings that you brought race into it though... I think for a comment to be racist it needs to have "intent". Even if I had come right out and said something about African Americans having a lot of illegitimate children, I would need to have a racist intent in order for it to be racist. Because, the fact is African Americans do have a lot of illegitimate children. Something like 67 percent of African American children are born to single parent mothers. Even if this statement sounds racist it is based on fact and therefore it is important to determine intent.

Don't believe me...? https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-...on-lemon-says-more-72-percent-african-americ/

I'm wondering what your intent was by bringing race into the conversation? If your intent is to deputize yourself as racist police you should probably try to have an understanding of what racism is. You said yourself you were "expecting" to see racist comments, and low and behold you did. Going around message boards expecting to see racist comments, bringing race up yourself, jumping to conclusions, and pointing the finger, is not a productive way to combat racism. What are you intending to do...?

"Grabs popcorn"

I came in to read the racists comments and those complaining about white privilege. I am a little disappointed. Mongoose delivered on the first, but the second group is still absent.

So is Siro Dal's alt or Dal Siro's alt?

BTW this post is much more racist than Mongoose's.

That's hilarious! I posted that pic comparing that bullhead catfish to hayward's kid, but I thought better of it and deleted my post. I was responding to someone saying the kid was cute. I think the kid will probably become very attractive but as of right now it looks like an ugly catfish. Anyway, I felt like that was uncalled for. Funny that the pic still popped up.

This isnt the first year they have done this campaign. They used all black NBA players last year for this. It's not like this is the first time they've done something like and they just ran to the first white person they saw. They probably just wanted a new pool of players to use and wanted someone who was young, good, and had a daughter.

Okay.

Yeah, the white guilt is real with some people. They don't even bother to realize this campaign was done last year without white players.

White guilt? I know you ain't talkin' about me. You must be talking about all that white guilt Siro has.
