Penny came in as PG and Exum a combo guard.. Bad comparison imo.
Where do you get this combo guard ,bs ? Exum was always a pure PG in Aussie land . Only when he got to the Jazz did they start talking positionless BB.In guarding opposing PG's you could tell he was in his natural position. He already knew what to do.
Of what I saw was a superior athletic kid who found out he could compete athletically to PG's in the NBA ,he has athletic confidence in himself. That translates ,why does Gobert,Favors,Hayward and Hood believe in Exum......maybe because they practiced everyday with him ??? Why does the front office and coaching staff believe in Exum ....yet some posters here have judged him from seeing him being a starter at 19.Other than Tony Parker ,how many 19 year old PG's has the NBA had ??? I've asked show other comparisons of other 19 year old starting PG's stats compared to Exum's.....No stats yet ,just judgements.
I think by mid year next year these same judgemental experts will be explaining why they doubted Exum when his team mates ,coaching staff and front office didnt.
The Penny comparison is a bit over the top. I think one thing he'll be for sure is better than Marcus Smart.
It all depends on how his mental game develops. Does everyone remember his first summer league. I think he scored like 12 points and was in attack mode. And then the next game he tried attacking and got hit hard in the back of the head. Since then he was very timid to go to the hole. Not saying that the hard foul alone cause his timid-ness. But how great he becomes will depend on his mental will. From what I heard on draft day is that he's very strong willed and always wants to get better. If he never quenches that thirst so to speak, and is always hungry than I can see him being a Westbrook light but with better defense. But it depends on how bad *** the kid wants to be.

Penny was 22 his rookie season they're on totally different timelines..
Penny wasn't exactly the best 3pt shooter either so the bar wasn't set all that high in that aspect..
Dante's a good passer though and capable of 7+ assist.. both are high BBIQ players
Obviously Penny was much better around the basket, and in general had way more tricks in his bag, but it's still too early to write Dante off..
If you look closely they just kinda have the same sort of lanky PG type of movements too..

Penny's movement looks more like McGrady if anything. And a lot of these highlights are pull up jumpers which Dante sucks at. So not really seeing the comparison at all.
Ha-ha the overrating is so strong here, are we seriously saying Dante will be top 20 PG of all-time here by comparing him to Penny or JKidd ... Setting up for major disappointment

Well he did have that really good summer league game so he probably will be the next penny or jason kidd. And cooley looked pretty good in that same summer league game so i figure cooley will be the next karl malone.
Except Cooley was like 25 years old and didnt look good at all.
young + great summer league performance = HOF career
JaVale McGee was/is the next Wilt or Hakeem

Why are we comparing a high IQ player to a low IQ player?
