What's new

Does Kanter show Jazz made mistake in these playoffs ......

18 for 20 in the last two games for 49 pts in 47 minutes ....and 27 for 37 for the series ....hard to call him a bust and since it's the playoffs call them nothing baskets

Lets call it what it was a big f**kup by the front office who let a 22 year old kid bully them into dumping him off to OKC for Kendrick Perkins ,Garrett who and Tibor who.

I wonder what his stat line will be against the Spurs. Beating up on Dallas's current bigs is what Kanter ought to be able to do. If maintains his play against the Spurs, then I will be impressed.

Kanter has been a monster for them thus far in the playoffs. I think he will be exposed in the later rounds, but right now you cant really hate on him. Got to give the dude his props.

I think OKC isn't going to pretend to be some kind of great defensive team or win by defense ....I think their going to do what they do best to win ,score the ball and rebound and see who can stop them and this is what Kanter does best.

Unfortunately, that is precisely why they aren't title contenders.

In the past 20 years, 15 of the 20 champions had a top 5 defense, and only two teams outside of the top 9 defensive teams won the championship... and one of those, bizarrely, was the 2001 LA Lakers, whose defense in the playoffs was actually #1 after being #21 in the regular season(go figure).

To contrast that, in the past 20 years, 11 of the 20 champions (more than half) did not have a top 5 offense, and five of them didn't even have a top 10 offense.

Bottom line is, when it comes to championships, top defensive teams feast on top offensive teams.

ALL THAT HAVING BEEN SAID... if the Jazz could have kept Kanter on a smaller contract, playing the same role that he does in OKC off the bench, I would've been happy with that. But, like Cy mentioned, i do also expect Kanter to get exposed in the later rounds on defense, and the idea of paying the max to a player that you can only play for 20 minutes a game because of his deficiencies on defense gets a big "HELL NO" from me.

Hey guise, I think this year is the yaer Al Jepperson will won da champyonchip and prove once and for all dat guys who suck at defense can still be da greatest.

And then the game changes ....Not one headline in the basketball world pointed to San Antonio's defense in chasing Lebron out of Miami...Nope
Golden State does have a good defense but their extraordinary shooting led them to beat Cleveland
So I guess it remains to be seen if OKC who's on a roll offensively sits down their offensive force inside ...usually you keep going back to the play that works until someone stops him

Wait, how does mentioning the 2014 Spurs (#3 defense) and 2015 Warriors (#1 defense) prove that defense no longer wins championships?

BTW Golden State only scored 107.3 points per 100 possessions in the NBA Finals, which was only a bit above league average. The reason they won is because they held Cleveland to just 99.6 points per 100 possesions - only the 76ers had a worse offensive output that year.

To credit their meh offensive performance over their Godly defensive performance in that Finals series would just be flat-out wrong.

as Kanter continues to progress and impress, let's take the time and remember who the true visionaries on this board are.

;)

Enjoy your moment, but his defensive liabilities will remain a stumbling block. Regardless of how well he's playing now, his greatest value to Utah was always as a trade asset. He's the kind of player that puts up some impressive numbers in a few catagories, but will always be worth more as trade bait to other teams who lack scoring/rebounding. It's a shame he had to cry like a bitch to be traded. Utah should have Trey Burked his *** and then matched his contract, but I guess listening to him cry like a little girl was too much to take.

What you losers are failing to see is that, hes not your regular offensive big that suck at defense, hes almost unstopable on the offensive end, scoring as soon as he gets the ball in the post, automatic mid range jumper all with very high efficiency, hes first man on the fast break runing down the court like crazy(never ever seen him look like half tired), one of the best offensive rebounder in the league , that second change scores helps alot.

Still keep believing that hes like Boozer or Jefferson but hes not, he was carrying the OKC team last night in the playoffs while KD chucking every shot and missing

What you are failing to see is that Enes doesn't play for the Jazz anymore, he plays for OKC. And while he was with the Jazz his juvenile stupidity was unstoppable, he let opponents score at will with high efficiencies and ran to every open microphone to complain, in fact he never seemed to tire of trashing the team or the community.

You can still keep believing he is on the Jazz, but he is not. He is down in OKC doing whatever he is doing. Probably benefitting from being open because Carlisle decided to gaurd Westbrook and Durrant.

I think they have the inter web in Oklahoma, you should investigate if their team has a message board. You might find it easier to persuade them of Kanter's greatness.

Kanter is such a beast, what an awesome move by Sam Presti, I'm sure KD and Westbrook love having him around.. look at how many stats hes near the top of the league in(TS%, PER, Orebs).....

You really need to see the full games to appreciate it, the highlights are impressive, but don't do justice to how he just dominates the painted area immediately upon entering the game..

Knowing that the Jazz missed the playoffs by a game and seeing Kanter play this well, at 23, sucks. That being said Kanter is one of the reasons I'm a Jazz fan in the first place..

"Yep" Much was written on this -- Kawhi containing LBJ along with keys from Danny Green and Duncan. Pop and the Spurs FO spoke at length about their focus on defensive improvement in the offseason after losing in the finals the previous year.

Took 30 seconds to google a headline:

Dude, end your nap and read a bit. Or at least watch some hoops while not napping.
