I think OKC isn't going to pretend to be some kind of great defensive team or win by defense
Unfortunately, that is precisely why they aren't title contenders.
In the past 20 years, 15 of the 20 champions had a top 5 defense, and only two teams outside of the top 9 defensive teams won the championship... and one of those, bizarrely, was the 2001 LA Lakers, whose defense in the playoffs was actually #1 after being #21 in the regular season(go figure).
To contrast that, in the past 20 years, 11 of the 20 champions (more than half) did not have a top 5 offense, and five of them didn't even have a top 10 offense.
Bottom line is, when it comes to championships, top defensive teams feast on top offensive teams.
ALL THAT HAVING BEEN SAID... if the Jazz could have kept Kanter on a smaller contract, playing the same role that he does in OKC off the bench, I would've been happy with that. But, like Cy mentioned, i do also expect Kanter to get exposed in the later rounds on defense, and the idea of paying the max to a player that you can only play for 20 minutes a game because of his deficiencies on defense gets a big "HELL NO" from me.
