Does Kanter show Jazz made mistake in these playoffs ......

That article reminds me that Kanter is a 12 year old kid brain trapped in a giants body. He really needs to be pampered and needs people to constantly say nice things to him to get him to be useful on the court (well half the court). Hope he doesnt pout too much when Durant leaves and they arent winning and people on his team call him out.

This article is damning to the Jazz organization and perhaps what could have been with Big Turkey. DL and QS ought to take some ownership in the Kanter failure in SLC.

The potential of trading Kanter ,can go down as the Jazz biggest f**Kup trade they've done and OKC's best trade ever.

bro...
The jazz traded dominique wilkins for John Drew, Freeman Williams and $1M.

also this little gem...
August 5, 1976: The New Orleans Jazz traded a 1977 1st round draft pick (Kenny Carr), a 1978 1st round draft pick (Freeman Williams), a 1979 1st round draft pick (Magic Johnson) and a 1980 2nd round draft pick (Sam Worthen) to the Los Angeles Lakers for a 1977 2nd round draft pick (Essie Hollis) and a 1978 1st round draft pick (Jack Givens).

But they did get Freeman Williams back as part of the Dominique trade.

Don't know if I agree with that without more information. We don't have the Jazz side of it. I'd guess the Jazz made some accommodations for Kanter as well, that aren't talked about in a Thunder promo piece, and I'm sure they respected his faith. It would be interesting though to see how different teams pamper their players and where the Jazz stack up. Stuff like the Thunder do has to go a long way in free agency.

The thing is the Jazz did have experience in dealing with a Turkish/muslim player before in Memo but that was mostly under the KOC/Sloan regime and you have the DL/QS regime here. Memo liked it here so you wonder if the organization dropped the ball of that Kanter is a woos. Probably the truth is somewhere in the middle. I don't know about you but I can hardly wait for the Tibor Pleiss era to fully begin.

Kanter leaving had nothing to do with him being a Muslim or a Turk. He left because he didn't want to accept his role as a 6th man. Durant and Westbrook were able to sell it to him. We didn't have a Durant or a Westbrook to be able to do that.

Kanter is not stupid. He knew Utah was going nowhere. Do you want to be a bench player on a crappy team or be traded? I'd rather be a bench player on a top 3 team than on a team that can't beat out Houston for a playoff spot.

This Jazz team was a complete disappointment this year. Kanter looks to be pretty smart in demanding to be traded.

It worked out well for him but almost cost him a max contract. Many teams were scared off by his antics and bad mouthing a team that is well respected around the league. The only team that came in and offered him a max (0 chance OKC would have) was Portland. Portland most likely would have offered him the max if he came in and played hard with the Jazz and allowed them to trade him or do a sign and trade. Either way he ends up with a max based on the market its just a matter of he limited his choices the route he took.

Fair enough. It was a risk for him to do that, and there was a chance that no one offers him a max deal.

BUT, he now has a max deal and is playing with two of the top 5 players in the NBA.

It was a GREAT move by Kanter. He left a terrible organization that is just falling on their faces and went to a top team in the NBA.

It's pathetic that Portland is a 5 seed and Utah isn't in the playoffs. Absolutely pathetic.

"Going nowhere"? Give me a break.

This team clearly has room to improve and DL has to be active this draft and off season. Yes this season was a disappointment.

But let's not pretend that the Jazz didn't struggle with Gobert, Exum, Favors and Burks all missing significant time due to injuries.

Take any team in the league and apply injuries to 4 of their 6 best players and they will struggle.

It's not like the injuries were to Johnson, Burke and Pleiss.

The real reason Dennis Kanter was unhappy in Utah:

"Westbrook and Serge Ibaka then began tearing into the halal trays. Before long, Thunder officials were searching the Internet for the top-rated Turkish and Middle Eastern restaurants in other cities when the team was on the road, all so they could feed a full lineup of NBA players with enormous appetites. “It’s like a mini-party,” said Thunder medical director Donnie Strack. “Everyone wants to steal Enes’s food.” – via Wall Street Journal"

This offseason is huge for Utah. If they miss the playoffs again...and do so with a lot of cap space...

It might be time to move on. Watching the playoffs and seeing the teams that are in...Portland, Houston, etc. It's pathetic that Utah couldn't make it in. There is no excuse for Utah not being in the playoffs this year.

I agree that Utah needs to make the playoffs next year. If they don't then some shake ups need to happen. This offseason is huge. My point was that it's not like a healthy Jazz team missed the playoffs.

Also "move on" how? The team on which players they are building around or you as a Jazz fan?

Hopefully him as a fan.

Lol. It's interesting to me how many fans seem obcessed with dwelling on a couple of letdowns, as if Rudy Gobert never blew out an ankle in a game that still could have gotten Utah in. A game in which Favors was also hobbled to the point of being a non-factor. Let's also just pretend Utah never had that 23-zip run against Denver that blew open a close game to keep us in the playoff hunt.

Yep, it's all just doom and gloom. Let's all cry in our beer that Utah didn't extend the season, because Gobert and Favors probably aren't all that important anyway. Boo ****in' hooooo.

How great a move is it going to look when KD leaves and probably followed by Russ and his team totally sucks ballz for years, and the OKC fans turn on him for being a monumental waste of $$$ ? Make no mistake KD is gonna up and leave for GS when he the Spurs finish with him.

btw how did OKC finish up last year when Durant was injured ?? oh yeah, they missed the playoffs. Was that pathetic ?
