Following 2016 potential draftees

Spy, I think you're more right on Ellenson than I was. He is good, especially so if he plays the 5 IMO.

I think my favorite player in the draft that we can is Wade Baldwin. Good shooter, good defender, good at getting to the line, elite measurables, poor at finishing at the rim (easily improved), decent ball handler. Why not play him off Exum? He could be kind of like our Avery Bradley, but bigger.

Interestingly enough, his closest statistical comparisons are Chauncey Billups and..........Jeff Hornacek! Some of you might not remember that Horny was a combo guard. But seriously, Baldwin is 6'4 with a 6'11 wingspan. Him and Exum in the backcourt is tremendous defensively.

I think DX having Ellenson at 13 is ridiculous. No way he drops that far. Drafted after Skal? That is ridiculous.

PS--Ellenson is almost one year younger than Skal.

If he was a Euro we'd be talking about him top 5. I agree he should play the 5. He is a decent shooter, skilled, young, good rebounder, not a good defender but is long enough to affect some shots at the rim.

Put up big numbers and could easily fix a few things with his body that would make him a little more nimble. He already started making strides in that area and if you put him with top level trainers and nutritionists...

If Ellenson and Luwawu are not there we should trade down. I don't think we should shoot the moon with both picks though. I think I'd move the 12 either straight up for 15 and 19 or 16 and 23. For 15 and 19 I'd include the OKC pick if necessary.

It would be a huge win to get a guy who could contribute on THIS rookie scale. This is the last year of super duper cheap rookie scales. Even if it only adjusts for inflation of salaries it will be a fairly sizable increase next year. It may completely get reconfigured with the new CBA and I only see it getting worse.

If teams were selling picks in the 20s I'd be buying looking for guys that could contribute sooner rather than later. That said I do think there is a case for going at guys like Maker in the 20s. Not sure why draftniks have him so low... he's probably not the KG prospect they thought but moves well for his size and already has some skill. He seems like a fantastic kid... only knock I have is he almost sounds too coached/scripted. All reports are he works his *** off. He won't slip past 20... a team will fall in love with him.

I like him too. His FG% isnt good, but you can see a lot of potential.

Really pretty shot and pull-up. You can see his length when he attacks the rim. Drafting him would be like drafting Lyles last year. Yeah his 3pt% sucked, but it looked good and he had good size for his position. Richardson looks good and he has elite length for a 2-guard and amazing length for a SF.

Actually his 3pt% is not that bad and his shot looks good overall. What worries me much more is his 2p%(39%). I'm just looking at his shot chart and is SOOOOOO DAMN UGLY. His length seems great and he has some athleticism, but damn... he looks so raw.

I heard that scouts and teams like his measurements and think that his poor shooting was from his shot selection, which can be fixed.

What chart are you looking at?

I googled and only found this https://vorped.com/4-ncaam/2015-2016/player/7645/malachi-richardson/shotchart/

That can't be accurate. He has taken way more shots than that throughout the season.

He reminds me of a Kelly oubre pick. Great size, etc. The jazz are interested in what they can develop.

One thing I like about Richardson is that his best games throughout the season came against the better teams in the NCAA.

I hope his fashion choices aren't as bad as Oubre's.

If he's the guy I hope it's because we trade back. Seems like a reach.

Did he shoot a lot of long 2s (if you still have his shot chart). His right foot moves forward quite a bit on his jumper... He'll need to adjust but I wonder if that was part of the reason for his poor 2p%.

He reminds me of a lenghtier poor-man's Rashad Vaughn. Only Vaughn shot about 10% higher from the field.

Why take Richardson if Baldwin is there? Pretty much the same measurables, a better shooter, defender, ball handler, and roughly the same age.

Fair enough. I guess that is where interviews and workouts come into play. Physically they are very similar, but Richardson does have an edge.
