Following 2016 potential draftees

He's definitely on my list of guys that I'd start targeting at pick #13.

To be fair, people didn't project Thompson as a good defender either.

I get that. But Murray has neither the physical or athletic attributes to be a good defender. He played for a great defensive coach, and wasn't just bad, but he was a turnstile. Maybe...maybe he can become slightly below average, but even that's a long shot. If he had to guard PG's, it's game over.

Would you trade Exum for Jamal and try to turn him into a fully fledged PG? I'm curious cause I know you're also high on Exum (or at least you have been in the past).

I would.
As much as I really like Exum and very much want to see him blossom for the Jazz, I want Murrays alpha and scorching shooting touch.

Which player can the Jazz more afford to trade and have a better remaining core: Hayward or Favors?

Which lineup would be better?

Option 1 - Trade Favors
PG: Exum, Mack, Neto
SG: Jamal Murray, Hood, Burks
SF: Hayward, Ingles
PF: Lyles, #12 Picked PF/C
C: Gobert, #12 Picked PF/C, Withey

Option 2 - Trade Hayward
PG: Exum, Mack, Neto
SG: Hood, Burks
SF: #12 Pick, Ingles
PF: Favors, Lyles
C: Gobert, Favors, Withey
The lineup without hayward looks better to me assuming it would have Murray or whoever we pick at three in it.

Huh? He didn't even remember to put Hood in that lineup and it still looks better to you? That lineup is literally the current Jazz squad minus Hood and Hayward.

Edit: I guess he went back and edited it to put in Hood.

The great Bentley.

Back when good ole Bentley thought the 16 million max was too much for Hayward. Always with the great foresight this one.
Come on cy. Almost everyone hated the Lyles pick. Most of jazzfanz didn't want to sign Hayward to the max deal.

So yeah, Bentley is an OG Gordon Hayward hater. Hated him during his last FA and hated that we re-signed him to a max back then (also hated him when we drafted him). I think the words "max" just trigger some lower IQ posters and they think since the player isnt Lebron or KD they don't deserve one.

It's funny how the Hayward haters always scuttle out like cockroaches when times get dark only to flee back when the light of God shows itself.
I don't think that wanting a player that people think has the potential to be better than Hayward = hating Hayward.
Also don't think that not wanting to give Hayward max money = hating Hayward.

Seems like you are overreacting a lot today.

Look, you don't give out the max until you have a player who is a clear cut top 10 player. Until then you just keep trading your max worthy players for young UK talent. That is managing with swagger and without fear.
I think you can try to use Hayward level players to acquire players that are better.

Nah, its hating. There are certain posters that only crawl out to bash Hayward when its in style to do so.

It's funny that this sentiment is even out there to me... The guy isn't worth his contract but we can trade him for a ton of value? He's either valuable or not right?

The people that argued against his contract kept saying it would be untradeable but I bet Danny ainge would be over the moon if we offered hay for #3. He'd be their best player and I don't think it's really close.
He has value sure. But if we offered him for a top draft pick the other team might say no and would definitely have to think about it.

Other max guys would guarantee that the team with the #1 pick would do the trade.

Not all max contract players have equal value imo

Hayward haters have it in their DNA. Whenever it becomes in style to hate Hayward, they all join in on the fun.

Also if you look at stats, all star appearances, playoff appearances then Thomas would come out ahead of Hayward.

I think Thomas is making like 6 million per year btw.

Not saying Thomas is the better player but actually on paper he kind of is

Thee jazz fan

If you concede my past objectivity toward UK players (which is 100% true), then why is it unthinkable that I truly believe Murray is going to be a total stud?

How is it suddenly less than objective when I promote one guy?
If he concedes that he must also concede the Easter Bunny is real.

Last time I checked Hayward averaged 19.7 ppg this past season with 5 rebound and 4 assist per game. There are playoff teams who had their leading scorers average less points at a less efficient clip.

Have you researched that? Can you give actual names and stats?

Not saying I don't believe you to be correct just curious.

Lmao

That Hayward hate is coming out strong. Pretty soon we going to have Burks>Hayward post.
