Best shows on TV?

Breaking bad got me hooked one episode in and never lost me once. I loved the show the entire way through. I tried watching the first episode of Mad Men and it was boring so I quit watching. Everyone talked about how great it is so I gave it another chance and I watched through most of the first season and nothing made me want to keep watching so I didn't.

They are targeted at different demographics so obviously not every show's going to (or is aimed to) please everybody.

Yes every show is aimed for different audiences. Frankly neither show was targeting me. Breaking Bad might have been a little but I think they were shooting for a younger crowd like people in their 20s on FX. Mad Men targeted women who seem to be the main people who loved the show. However my opinion regardless of their target demographics is still that Mad Men was boring and hard to care about the characters. Maybe if I stuck it out past the first season or two it would have been great but I dont think a show should require you to watch that much to get hooked. The only show that took a few seasons to get good that was worth sticking out that I have watched is Clone Wars.

Clone Wars >>>>> Mad Men. No doubt.

Better Call Saul is amazing. Love every episode. Breaking Bad ended amazingly well enough, but it was rough going early on. I actually stopped watching Breaking Bad for almost two years after season two.

Better Call Saul...love that show.

Agreed... it was rough going at first, I'd say 3/4 of the first season? It just never really got going for me... It was plain sailing after Season 2 though when HEISENGERG made an appearance... LOL

Any fans of Rick and Morty? I just started it this week and have been loving it so far.

(It's an animated Sci Fi comedy on adult swim)

Can't believe I didn't know about it until a few days ago. It's quickly become my favorite cartoon on TV right now and probably my second favorite comedy (after Broad City).

Broad city is my #1 as well.

VEEP is absolutely hysterical. The writing is phenomenal and there are so many great characters, all tightly wound into just 25 minutes.

The Americans - took me a while to get into it but the latest season was great.

One of my favorite shows as well. The acting is pretty phenomenal, especially Paige.

Watch "The Night Of" last night on HBO. Enjoyed it. It's an 8 part series. The first episode was 1.5hrs and I think that's how the rest of the series will be. This is a show that will end after the 8th episode. I imagine they could do a second season sort of like how True Detectives did it, but I don't think there are any plans for that.

I thought it was okay but found it slightly subpar for HBO.

It's sort of a murder mystery that shows the inner workings of the criminal justice bureaucracy.

There's a college aged Pakistani-American kid who does something completely out of character for him and ends up in a situation where he is charged with murder.

This first episode was pretty slow moving. I'm expecting it to get better.

There are a lot of people with ties to "The Wire" involved in it and James Gandolfini is on the credits as a producer. I guess he was trying to get this show going before he passed away, he was going to play one of the lead roles.
