What's new

2011 draft.....

He's a 3. I don't care what Numberica said. He has no mass or hustle or toughness to or mindset to play the NBA 4. He's a 3 or a 4 like Dirk if Dirk retires.

So far I've only seen him play once, but that coupled with the article on draft express - oh, and the "highlight" video on the draftexpress article - give me the impression he's soft and not a good defender.

I'd want him to match up with Kevin Durant - but if he's a crappy defender maybe someone with more heart even if they are shorter would be better.

I dunno - it looks like a lot of "could be"s, but his softness has me thinking let someone else gamble on him.

Don't concern yourself with what my opinion is, necessarily, but bear in mind that you're the one asserting that a 6' 11" guy that plays PF/C exclusively and is a bad shooter is actually a 3.

Maybe he becomes a 3 like Andray Blatche was, but there's really no indication he is or will. Either way, he's a huge gamble.

And there's an indication that he'll be a 4? He's soft. VERY soft. And he has none of the characteristics (other than height) or skills necessary to play the 4 on either end in the NBA . He does however have the playmaking ability that NBA scouts drool over, when looking for a wing, and some ability to shoot from outside. Is he good? No, but he can improve to be decent enough. Look at Wade's numbers. Carmello's numbers. AK's numbers. The list goes on and on for wings who can't shoot (if we're basing it purely on percentages) in this league and Perry Jones will join that list.

Yeah, the temptation to select Perry Jones is largely dreams of what he "could" be.

I was initially quite taken with him too but after seeing him play I kinda soured on him. As I investigate further I sour on him even more.

You're making my point. I think the odds that he even makes it in the league aren't very good. He just looks like a garbage player to me. He has the POTENTIAL to be Blatche and that doesn't excite me at all.

We will have to see how his workouts go, see if he slides or rises. I'll have to watch him play, only seen YouTube highlites or live, so thanks for the info on him. Just not all that interested in all the tweener forwards , so I'm leaning to drafting Barns right now because we need a wing, and would love to find a way to draft Nolan smith. In a way he reminds me of D-Wll can play ether gard position well.

Physically Perry Jones is close to Garnett's length and body type. Supposedly he is even quicker. But he doesn't have Garnett's toughness or heart. I would go a different direction with my draft pick.

Did any one post Perry Jones was just suspended for rest of year.
Does that make a difference?

Now everyone can be totally mesmerized by his "potential" without being able to see him play. This could be good for us that would like others to slide.

Hey, I like both those guys too. Who do you think will be better NBA player - Smith or Jimmer? I think the Jazz' pick (assuming they miss the playoffs) could net them either of them. Don't think Barnes will slide that far so Barnes would have to be the Jersey pick. But I think there are others I might prefer depending on how early that pick turns out to be.

I think Derrick Williams could be special, definitely one of the very top prospects in this draft. I've been watching his tapes, and he's got all the potential to be a great scorer in the NBA. He's got the ability to score inside and out and drive in many different ways. He's got some moves like Paul Pierce and others like Larry Johnson. He could be a top-2 option on a playoff team.
