2011 draft.....

Here's my board at the moment:

1) Irving (the next top-shelf pg)
2) Willams (the next game-changing power 3?)
3) Terrence Jones (the next elite wing scorer, e.g., Tracy McGrady)
4) Kanter (the next elite rebounder with inside skills, a real center)
5) Barnes (smooth SF, e.g., the next Allan Houston, could be special, but is he redundant with Hayward?)

Sleeper Pick: Jan Vesely (athletic like a bigger version of AK, but with a scorer's metality. )

I feel similarly.

Watching Duke/Carolina only to watch Barnes. I'm quite impressed with his defense. All his offense has been pullback and pullup jumpers, so that's a bit discouraging. Haven't seen him drive. Haven't seen his teammates look for him coming off of screens. I'm worried that he will rely too much on his jumper in the pros, where they can defend it better.

I'm watching Texas/Baylor to check out Perry Jones. I'm amazed at how disinterested Jones is in rebounding or contesting shots. He gets out worked by smaller players unless the ball comes right to him. Maybe he's pacing himself. Oh, and he likes to dribble the ball out of the back court every chance he gets, which has resulted in 3 TOs in the first 5 minutes.

...Now Jones just got shut down in the post and traveled. Next play, he pulls up off the dribble for a 20' jumper that misses. This guy thinks he's a guard in Andray Blatche's body.

I also think Jordan Hamilton looks like a very average prospect, not a top-15 pick--average athleticism, not an aggressive scorer, so-so defender.

There's a chump on the Idaho Vandals that you people would prolly like. I mean, he's white and can shoot. Bedwetter, or something.

My board is

1- Irving
2- barnes
3- williams

With the second pick

1- any of the euros ( don't want to look up how to spell their names)
2- Jimmer fredette
3- Alec burks
4- Jordan hamilton

Actually switching fredette and the euros since only kanter is a true center. I think barnes is going to be the best player in this draft. He is a perfect fit in Utah also.

I think I'd go...

1. Irving
2. Williams
3. T. Jones
4. Barnes
5. Trade pick away for a 2012 1st to some typically suckass team (Minny, Sacramento, Toronto and Charlotte would be my biggest targets) OR trade down and acquire more picks, both easier said than done.

How did Nolan Smith look? Would love to see him in a Jazz uniform. Can play both pg and sg would love to see the combo of Harris playing point along side Smith. I think the Jazz should try and get Barnes with the first pick, with there not being any stud sg's available, trade down and get Nolan Smith and some other asset.

Smith can play ether guard position can shoot and distribute the ball to open players as a point guard. I think he would make an impact right off the bat.

For our 1st pick I'd go
1. Irving
2. D-Will
3. Terrance Jones
4. Barnes
5. Kanter or trade for multiple future picks/SG

For 2nd pick
1. Donatas Motijiuenas
2. Jimmer
3. Kawhi Leonard
4. Tyler Honeycut
5. Brandon Knight or trade pick

Watched the Williams kid from Arizona yesterday. He reminded me of a smaller, but smoother version of Patrick Patterson. I didn't particularly like his defense or boxing out, though. I did see a nice pass or two from him. Could he defend SF's at the NBA level?

I really like Williams. He is a competitor, very smooth, pretty good shooter, versatile, athletic freak, great rebounder, can create, has great defensive potential. His dunk at the end of the game was nasty

Top Choices for me

1. Derrick Williams
2. Harrison Barnes
3. Terrence Jones

Im intrigued by all the Euros, especially Vesley, but their bust potential is high and Im scared by their weaknesses. I would like Irving most, but I dont think thats going to happen unless we get the number 1 pick.

Pretty good shooter? He's putting up Nash-like percentages as a PF. Insanely efficient scorer, like a hybrid F Kevin Martin with more of a Nowitski skill-set.

He's the poster child of what happens when versatility and talent meets intelligence. Matchup nightmare. He might not be an all-star in the NBA but I think he'll be a strong scorer as a 2nd or 3rd option on a really good team. Being a 15 ppt scorer within his first few years seems to be a fair projection but I am in love with him on paper maybe a bit too much.

The thing with Williams is he is forced to play PF for Zona but I think in the NBA he plays SF. I really hope we get the 3rd pick and he falls somehow

Derrick Williams is my man. I hope we get lucky in the lottery and/or are able to swing a draft-day trade. This is the kind of player that we need VERY badly.

If we don't make the playoffs, but we come out on draft day with Williams and Hamilton, then everything will be coo. damn, that'll never happen.

Didn't do much when I was watching. Plus, I wasn't paying attention to him.

Ya but when has match up problems ever favored the smaller player. Unless he has Okur accuracy from three point land history is not on his side. I like Williams game though, will just have to see his measurements and how he performs in the tournament against better competition.
