George Hill coming to Utah

I don't understand some people. All season long we've been wanting an experienced vet, and now we have one. But then people get all angry because that's not good enough? Dang. We should just go back to Burke, because that's definitely the answer.

"We want a good vet on a long-term contract at a fair price without giving up any long-term assets." - JFC's wishful thinking

Nah, it's you and the other ****-fer-brains that are have no clue. Like lopo and punkphlembottombum.

Good trade for Utah. #12 in this year's draft will be doing jack **** for the Hawks.

Woohoo!

The idea that one knows the 12th pick will be garbage is of course ridiculous. Even in the Andrea Bargnani draft guys like Rondo, Lowery, Milsap, PJ Tukcer were drafted after 12. Hopefully the possibility of a few extra wins with Hill will be worth it.

S.I. Gives the trade these grades:

Pacers B-
Hawks C+
Jazz A

I'm assuming the grades are projections of the 2016 - 17 season. I wonder what the grades might be in 3 years. If Hill re-signs, then the Jazz will continue to grade high, imo

This trade is absolutely asinine, Very disappointed. Trey Burke status. 100% certainty that years down the line this will look foolish.

This move doesn't make Utah a threat to the top teams in the west. This is a move to appease the fanbase, baby steps type ****.

No way is this anywhere near maximum extracted value for the pick either.. This reeks of Dennis Lindsey playing favorites..

So finally the Jazz makes a move to win now and people criticizes it?. We need to add veterans and Hill is a great fit.

Also, there might be more trades coming on draftday. The Jazz have one of the strongest scouting in the league and they might be looking to get a steal late in the first round or early second round(by trading Burke, Mack Neto or future draft picks like OKC or GSW). Moreover, this was a weak draft and selecting at 12 could have the same value than 30.

Ideally we would be dealing for a player with two years left on his contract. However I believe the Jazz did their homework with Hill and he might want to stay long-term. It seems this trade has been on the works for some time.

Overall, I'm happy with the trade. Hopefully the Jazz makes more trades tomorrow (Burke, Mack, Neto, picks) for a late 1st rounder and acquire a player with same or even higher potential than at 12 (and at a smaller salary)

.....people on this board would take Hayward over Lillard? (From a few pages back....)
Lots and lots.
In fact I have a feeling that the majority would from past discussions I have had

I think most of us are happy to get hill. You should make a poll and find out.

Do people want to bakk cakk or eat cake?

I'll be honest, I don't love it. I would have loved it last spring had it helped the Jazz make the playoffs. But I also don't hate it. It is just too early to tell, I can't judge this move in a vacuume because it is only a part of what will go on his offseason.

I wonder if the Jazz will buy back into the draft, maybe they have a specific target in mind and are waiting to see if he falls to pull the trigger?

If it's a 'win now' move to get Hill ... I doubt we'll trade assets for another rookie.

Interesting tweet, they probably want to resign Horford and also go after Dwight with max money. The 12th would let them unload Splitter. They haven't worked out any of the talent around the 12th slot. We'll see if they keep the pick.

Back to Hawks: Sources say they'll now try to trade their two first-rounders (one from the Teague deal) to make re-signing Al Horford easier

Re-sign Horford and max Dwight Howard? They have Paul Millsap, that makes 0 sense.

Im shocked you like this trade.
Every time anyone ever mentioned getting any point guard of any kind for any reason in the past, you hated the thought.
I did say I love it if Exum starts. He's not the threat that other pg's are to Exum's development because he's as much a combo guard as as he is a pg.
That settles it.
Thee is DL.

Ya so no one bug me tomorrow I've got to do some wheeling and dealing I need to concentrate

I'd actually love it if they could flip Mack or Burke for a late 1st round pick. That's good asset management. Buy low. . . Sell high. . . Mack can be the 3rd PG, with Neto taking over the next year. But if they can get something good for him with that contract, they might as well. Then it would essentially be trading Mack/Burke for George Hill at the price of dropping from 12 to whatever pick they get back. Not a bad deal.
