What's new

George Hill coming to Utah

There are some ****ing sick sick plays on this reel. Damn. I'm so excited. I just want him to stay....... that's been my only hangup.

Stay, George. Pls.

I'm just really excited to see this team with a PG that opposing team's HAVE to respect.

I feel like it get's lost on a bunch of Jazz fans but our starting 4 w/ Neto had a +7.2 Net Rating (not point differential, offensive rating v defensive rating which is a better measure). Starting 4 w/ Mack had a +9.4 Net Rating. These aren't small sample sizes either, those were our most common 5-man lineups. Not only adding Hill but adding Exum to the mix, I'm pumped.

Only 16(!!!) 5-man Lineups w/ more than 250 minutes together had a better Net Rating than 7.

I went and looked into Baldwin hard after reading some of the hype on here and Hill seems like everything we could've hoped for from a pick like Baldwin right?

That was a nice video. I was shocked how many big shots he made. You have to have a PG who isn't afraid to take the big shot. Another thing that sticks out is his speed, he was blowing by guys. The defensive play against GS gave me goosebumps.

I can't wait for camp to start.

I think it will take Baldwin at least 3-4 seasons to get close to the kind of consistent plays & leadership at the point that Hill can provide from day 1 ...

Also there is no guarantee what kind of 3pt % Baldwin will put up in the NBA ...

Man, look at the clock and the score on a lot of those highlights. He has more "clutch" plays on that highlight reel than the entire Jazz team had last year.

Welcome aboard Mr. Hill!

The more I read and see about George Hill the more happy I become with this trade. Much rather have him than Teague.

That's a very good point ... the Jazz could have done a Teague for #12 pick straight swap with ATL, but instead involved IND to get Hill.

Lindsey/Quin must have liked Hill more for the Jazz.
Could also be that they didn't want to pay teague more money than hill. Could also be that they had already spoke with teague and his agent (maybe even around the trade deadline) and he told the jazz he doesn't want to play for us.

No one really knows but there is a chance that the jazz think teague is the better player but took hill anyway due to more cap flexibility going forward and hill acting like he wants to be here.

Either way, great trade

Hill is a much better fit for the Jazz than Teague is. He will cost less and I would assume he will be more okay with a bench role than Teague would when Exum gets healthy because he's been there before. You have to remember the team still has hope for Exum. Getting Teague may have caused tension over the starting pg job, Hill hopefully will not.
This too

I'm not sure why I hadn't seen that end-of-game play where Hill steals it from Ellis and then runs down and ices the game. That's one of the best in-your-face plays I've ever seen.

I noticed this too. Is it possible this is highlights of all his time and years with the Pacers?

Even still, show me a career highlight reel of Hayward with as many clutch plays as Hill has. It's not possible because Hayward doesn't have enough to even make a highlight reel out of them. That highlight reel is about half made up of big plays in the last 10s of games that are within 3pts.

Here's a George Hill tribute video from Pacers fans :

Awesome video. Repped

Not sure if you knew this or not but i just wanted to point out that the video is a compilation of highlights spanning several years.... It was not a highlight video from just last season.

I take back Utah got the bad end of the deal. Atlanta wasted a number 12 pick on Prince, LOL. I get the thinkingfrom them. Need someone that can guard LeBron but lol at Prince that high.
Now Indiana got thebest end
Then Utah with Hill
Then Atlanta.

They whiffed big time

After seeing how the draft played out I'm glad we were apart of that pathetic display. Taurean Prince for George Hill? All day everyday and twice on Sunday. This is such an underrated move. Hill is the perfect player for this team. We've been talking about him for awhile and I'm glad it finally happened.

The idea that one knows the 12th pick will be garbage is of course ridiculous. Even in the Andrea Bargnani draft guys like Rondo, Lowery, Milsap, PJ Tukcer were drafted after 12. Hopefully the possibility of a few extra wins with Hill will be worth it.
It's this. I like Hill; he's a good player. But did Utah give up getting another player like Gobert or Hood? Or even worse, a shot at finding a real gem like Klay, Draymond, etc.? The list of all-stars includes a couple of players drafted at/after #12 every year. Guys like Hill can usually be had at the deadline for a 2nd-rounder (i.e. expiring who won't be back with their team). Atlanta didnt even WANT to keep their picks in order to free up more money for free agency.

DL should have gotten Hill much cheaper and STILL had a chance on getting a player with tremendous upside at #12, especially with a couple of players who slipped. He tried to trade back in, but couldn't. That's because he panicked and gave away the #12 when he probably could have played hardball and insisted on swapping picks with Atlanta and throwing in a couple of seconds.

Millsap's Uncle prevented us from finding the all-star of your 2106 Darft Dreams

I dont think either of Indiana, Utah, or Atlanta were desperate to get a trade done, so I don't really think any side got a significantly better deal. I think it was a pretty fair deal on all sides because of that.
