What's new

Never Trump

For a group wanting to be treated normally they sure like to label themselves.

At least they are labeling themselves and not allowing other to label them, as has been the case for a very long time. I've got no beef with this.

Regarding "wanting to be treated normally" that is an interesting choice of words. Do you mean "not discriminated against by bigots"? Because that is most LG(alphabet soup) folks I know care about.

With her pick of Tim Kaine as VP, Clinton’s strategy for defeating Trump is now clear. Clinton plans to run a campaign in complete tonal contrast to Trump. Establishment competence and optimism versus anger and fear. The Democratic Convention will be a relative sunny celebration compared to the dark and dour cloud Trump hung over Cleveland. We’ll see in the next few weeks whether it’s a strategy that resonates with voters.

No comments on the corruption of the DNC against Sanders? Pretty par for the course for Hillary of course.

I'm also not sure anybody could call Hillary competent, tbh.

Johnson better jump on this quick. Court those Sanders supporters hard. Get to 15%.

The post was about what I expect Clinton’s strategy to be against Trump. Optimism versus anger. It was about the tone of the incoming campaign and how well that might resonate with voters. That’s what I’m interested in, the upcoming campaign.

I didn’t comment on the DNC because that’s a completely different subject. I’m not a Democrat and not so interested in internal DNC politics. For what it’s worth I favored Sanders over Clinton, mainly because I’m no fan of Clinton and could never vote for a clown like Trump. Have not yet decided between Clinton, Stein and Johnson.

He can't win. So..
I guess it would be cool to continue to expand the independent movement (srsly).

I don't expect him to win. I expect a their party candidate on stage to make people take notice. Wake some people up to the idea that we don't have to except the trash given to us by the Rs and Ds. It's about laying a foundation.

Okay then.

Agreed.

If I somehow advised the GOP, I would suggest we keep the Republican Party together but only as a figure head and I'd shift my focus to becoming the new 3rd party independent. Sneaky as ****,
Right?

Johnson's the wrong guy for that. He'll get eaten alive on stage... all he's got going for him that can't be exposed or "punched through like a wet paper bag" is "I'm the other guy"

It would depend on your platform.

It would depend on your platform.

I would KILL it.

Problem is;
- I have smoked dope
- I drink too much
- way too honest
- I would try to buy countries rather than invade them or lend money

...

Basically, my platform would sound great but the reality would suck. Let's just keep the status quo.

You have my vote.

It'll still work to make people think. It's not Johnson. It's what he represents.

Cleveland • On the convention floor, Utah Republican Party Chairman James Evans took the microphone and proclaimed that not only would the party's nominee, Donald Trump, win the Beehive State in November, but he would get his largest margin of victory in the nation there.

It was a bold prediction that surprised even some delegates standing around him. Recent polls have vacillated between a tie and a small Trump lead. An internal poll conducted for Rep. Mia Love two weeks ago found Trump at 29 percent, Clinton at 27 percent and Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson at 26 percent.

Utah feels the Johnson

Not sure that's a campaign slogan Utah would embrace.

Trump wanted Kasich as VP

One day this past May, Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., reached out to a senior adviser to Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, who left the presidential race just a few weeks before. As a candidate, Kasich declared in March that Trump was “really not prepared to be president of the United States,” and the following month he took the highly unusual step of coordinating with his rival Senator Ted Cruz in an effort to deny Trump the nomination. But according to the Kasich adviser (who spoke only under the condition that he not be named), Donald Jr. wanted to make him an offer nonetheless: Did he have any interest in being the most powerful vice president in history?

When Kasich’s adviser asked how this would be the case, Donald Jr. explained that his father’s vice president would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.
Then what, the adviser asked, would Trump be in charge of?

“Making America great again” was the casual reply.

/facepalm
