That's not the story his shot chart tells:

And I'm aware of his perimeter game....but he's still super physical by today's standards....no matter how you slice it. It doesn't matter where he has the ball when his possesion starts. Plus, it's not just getting buckets were talking about here. He's one of the most physical rebounders I've seen in awhile.

Stats lie. Cy watching him (except not watching him) is much more reliable.
He's a force down low. He's a legit stretch 5, imo, but he needs to park himself in the paint where he has a much more unique advantage.

He's just mentally too lazy to do so on a regular basis... and 6 years of NBA coaching has done nothing to change that unfortunately.

Put Hayward's brain in Cousins' body and he's a 10 time All Star, 3 times Finals MVP .... etc, ...

USA leads China 35-14 mid way through the 2nd quarter....

The 3pt line seems to be too far for these chinese players at the moment.

Do you watch Cousins? He spends most of his time in the 15-20 midrange area jacking up shots. Why do you think his FG% is so crappy every year? He doesnt ban down low as much as he just drives from the perimeter and uses his freakish combo of size and athletic ability to draw fouls.

With all the back and forth, we should understand that this guy getting nitpicked played on an awful team and managed;
4th leading scorer in the league
5th leading rebounder in the league
Shot 33.3% from 3
1.4 blks

So he's mentally lazy.
A whiner.
A chucker.
Has a bad attitude.
And is the only player in the league top 5 in both Pts and Rbs.

China's national team fix is so easy. Start sending these young guys to US colleges. Put the burden of their development on Coach K, Mark Few, Cal, etc. That's the only way they are going to get better and stop looking so intimidated in International play. You can't just send them to the no defense CBA when they are 17 or 18, expecting them to develop. They don't have the players or coaches to challenge them. They need to play against more non-Chinese guys at that age.

The Chinese government would never let these guys go though... they're too scared they'd never come back to China.

We're not saying he's talented, it's actually the opposite, he is so talented, and yet there's so much untapped potential there it would be a real shame if he doesn't fulfil those potential because of mental reasons, because physically it's all there.

LOL .. the Chinese PG just got his floater blocked the hell out of by DeAndre Jordan... he got the ball back, then air-balled the 3pt shot.

#smh

Haha....could be. They sure have a hard time parting ways with their basketball factory chosen ones......even to the NBA. Plus, how you going to convince a Chinese kid that could make 100,000's of dollars/yr in the CBA at 17 or 18....whose parents were likely farmers or factory workers making jack squat growing up.....to throw that away for college? Most Chinese schools mandate English now though....so all you would really have to do is up the age range required to enter the CBA to 20-22....bam....100's of Chinese basketball players forced into US colleges if they wish to keep playing basketball. I bet you could turn the whole thing around in a decade just by feeding them to US schools like that. At least enough to stop losing to the Nigeria/South Koreas of the world.

Also don't forget the Chinese governments don't want to 'lose face' by sending these kids to US colleges, thereby virtually admitting to the World that their own colleges or training programs aren't up to par.

That's kind of the point.
If he weren't those former things then the latter thing would be leading the league in rebounding and top two in points and better efficiency and better team record.

I'm too lazy to look it up.
Who is on the US team?

I know what everyone is saying.. but I was speaking to the "do not want" crowd that cites those reasons in my post while ignoring him being the best center in the league.
