Why Hayward?

The Thriller

1280 just brought up an excellent point. Jay Bilas just said, "he's not a good shooter, not a great athlete, and not a good defender."

Then why the hell did we draft this kid?

Dwill is checking out, I guarantee it. This kid does absolutely nothing to improve us. He's not a better shooter than CJ, Wesley, or Korver. He's not a better defender. And he'd be the worst athlete on this team other than Boom Bitches.

What the hell was KOC thinking? Hayward does NOTHING for this team.

Doesn't do anything for size, nothing for depth, nothing for shooting, nothing for defense, nothing.... Wow... Horrible...

Way Hayward? Wasn't it reported that many of the FO and the coaches said that Hayward had the best preworkout of anyone they have ever seen?

Maybe it is because Salt Lake's population is 80% white. I'm starting to think the ownership believes in catering toward them, in light of their continued selection of unathletic, white players. :(

Obviously it doesnt help them win. Oh wait, they keep winning..

Well, we wanted a big man, but the guys we would've wanted (Cousins and Favors were definitely not going to be available), Monroe or Udoh were gone. Probably Monroe was the first option. Guess they figured Aldrich's potential was limited and Whiteside too much of a risk, so they went with Hayward, who is a bigger version of Hornacek, though not as good a shooter.

Sure they have been winning the past few years, but you can argue their lack of athleticism is one of their biggest flaws. Come on now, if there was 2 players of exactly the same talent one white, one back, they would pick the white guy over the black guy every single time. The Jazz need to learn the character and race of the players isn't going to keep the fans in the seats, its winning and going far in the playoffs.

I think you're smoking something.

Yea I forgot about all those NBA championship banners hanging in the ESA. I guess most myopic Jazz fans think Hayward is the missing piece since I keep hearing how the Jazz are really close to winning it all.

While we are at it we should bring back Hot Rod to play the 3 I heard he is a FA.

This post is so f'ing dumb it's hard to believe anyone with a basic understanding of the English language could write it.

Its not dumb, its the Jazz we are talking about. They don't even usually have Sunday home games because of the high Mormon population. You don't think they don't take in account the demographics of the region's population when they consider what players to pick or sign?

I think that Hayward's race was a minor factor.

But if an outstanding workout was a major factor, then they are placing a lot of weight on a couple hours' time.

Against no real defense. And there's no way you can recreate intensity or project defense in a workout. He's going to be one of the most dreadful defenders in the league. Korver-level if he's lucky.

No.

From 2000-2010, the Jazz's first round picks were:

Deshawn Stevenson. Black
Raul Lopez. White
Curtis Borchart. White
Pavlovic. White
Snyder. Black
Humprhies. At least partially black.
Deron. Black, or at least partially black
Brewer. Black
Almond. Black
Kofus. White
Maynor. Black
Hayward. White

This doesn't include all the 2nd round picks like Milsap, Dee Brown, Miles, Whaley, Mo Williams, etc.

No. They said the workout that he was involved in (along with three or four other guys) was the best they'd ever seen. I took that to mean t was insanely, ultra competitive.

His face.

He looks like an angel.

He's so pretty.

I think I saw his face on a church tract with wings.

The Jazz found him simply irresistable.

The Jazz fell in love.

There can be no other reason.

Had nothing to do with basketball, but bringing in a cute guy for the community.
