What's new

Home Opener: Los Angeles Lakers (1-0) @ Utah Jazz (0-1): 7 PM MT

Stop undressing him with your eyes.

Agree. I went into full on spazzzzz mode with excitement on that play. Looked at my wife, she had a look of total disgust on her face as if she was contemplating why she ever agreed to marry me.

Funny. I got a text from her right after that.

Mack had 9 points and 4 rebounds on 8 shots w/ 1 turnover. Not great, but y'all act like he was terrible. It just feels like people need someone to complain about rather than legitimate criticism.

I really wish Mack's minutes would disappear, but I agree, it's not going to even be an option until we're healthy. Exum is pulling his baby fawn act again. He's just not aggressive, and he plays afraid. He is 6'6" and had 0 rebounds. He doesn't even have to score in huge numbers if he actually does other things. For someone who's been out for a year, he is playing very passively. He has the tools if he'll use them. He's -21 in plus minus in 29 minutes after two games, and until another player forces Quin's hand, we're stuck with Mack I'm afraid.

1. I'm no Mack fan, but he had more positives than negatives. With that said I can't wait until Exum is finishing games over him.
2. FAVORS! BEAST! That is what I've been begging for since he came here. We've seen glimpses, and they are orgasmic.
3. HILL. Man what a solid player, and leader. I was luke warm to it when it was announced, but clearly it was the right move.
4. Exum, and Lyles will be fine. This is what is great about this team. Some players haven't even warmed up yet.
5. JJ is a closer. He is going to win quite a few games for us in the 4th QT this year.
6. Hayward is getting closer. He is a fast healer. Get ready for Haytime.
7. GOBERT! Playing at such a high level. Finishing better, good defense, starting to turn a corner offensively (long way to go).
8. Stop worring about Diaw. He is fine, and once he is in his correct roll will shine for us.
9. Crowd was kinda meh for the opener.
10. Pride jerseys are gorgeous.

Great response. 2 things to add. . .

01. Lyles and Exum both started off their rookie years slow and finished them by being really solid, positive contributors (Dante as a defensive pest and Trey as a legitimate future stretch 4) they're both babies, and once Hayward, Favors and Burks are all healthy everyone will be in their correct roles. That will be fun to watch.

02. The Jazz need to extend Hill asap. He's going to be the PG that we've desperately needed since Deron was traded. Give him a decent 3/4 year deal and then start focusing on Hayward and Favors and Gobert.

I think you can tell by his demeanor that Favs wasn't too thrilled with his minute restriction. He packed 48 minutes of rage on the court into 20 minutes.

Highlight of the game was Favors energy tonight. He needs to bring that attitude every night if he wants to be the player he's capable of.

I kinda think that until Hayward comes back if we can't get early offense then we need to go into simple old school post up basketball. We have had consistent success in the post thus far(we do have the personnel for it). The NBA has had a lack of good low post players and most teams don't defend it very well. I also think that pressure in the paint will open up the 3 a helluva lot more than back and forth perimeter passes. It will also discourage teams from switching in the pick and roll. Switch and we will immediately post your *** up.

In addition to Favors, we have two excellent post-up players in the vets, JJ and Diaw, and Trey is improving there, as well. We need to play to our strengths. Hopefully our 3-point shooting will get better when Hayward and Burks return.

No, better off just have our perimeter players jack 3s.

IIRC, last season we were heading that direction with our big wings in Hood/Hayward. They have such an advantage down there against the smaller guards and forwards checking them, and they've mastered that fade away jumper from close to mid range.
