Following potential 2017 draftees...

Here is the TJ Leaf dunk. He is at #23 in DX's recent update so in Jazz range and has a near 30 PER with UCLA. I think the Jazz would have a lot of interest in him if he was on the board.

I have a hard time getting excited about Rabb. Seems like an athletically limited, below-the-rim-player who makes fundamental plays around the basket due to his length and teammates setting him up. I'm not sure how he's better than Ed Davis, if he's even that good a prospect.
 
I'd predict that Miles Bridges becomes a top-10 pick when it's said and done. He has prototypical size, strength and athleticism for an NBA wing, with enough shooting touch to be a 2-way player.

And he's only 18.

He's a much better prospect than Ed Davis, and I always liked Davis. One of the biggest difference is their dexterity with the off-hand. Davis is a classic strong-hand dominant lefty that finishes almost everything left. Ivan Rabb has been instinctually doing all sorts of finishes with both hands for many years now, that's why I've long compared him to David Lee..

There's also a big difference with their touch. Davis is well equipped to finish at the rim but once oyu get out of that 5=foot range Rabb's touch becomes vastly superior.

I'd also argue that Davis was playing more of his NBA position in college/HS than Rabb is now, he's asked to play 5 like he was in HS often, in the league he's clearly a 4.

There's Chris Bosh like intangible with Rabb too. He put on the best performance I've ever seen to win a HS state championship 2 years ago. Willed the victory vs an absolutely loaded Mater Dei squad. He brought it to OT and then sealed the W. This is one of the reasons I'm certain he'd fall right in-line in Utah. He's a winner.

So you think his game will translate to the NBA where his size/length won't be much of an advantage, where his athleticism will be average, and where he'll be asked to guard in space? Ed Davis was at least an excellent rebounder with a good second jump.

Yeah I do, he's not the biggest/baddest/most skilled. He's gonna find his niche in the league tho, I just think he's that type of player. He's got that type of personality. He's malleable, motivated, focused, and he's really got a great foundation to build on (and some tricks up his sleeve).

I'm not surprised a bit he's shooting 3's..

He's gonna knock every team interview out of the park, and every team is gonna try to get him in for workouts..

You've basically gotta be a top tier big to be in the lottery this year.. Several of the bigs seemingly in that range can shoot 3's, some of them are 7-foot and go coast-to-coast.. Bam appears more of an early-bloomer(as he's been seen for many years), there's also a small chance he doesn't measure 6'10", even though It does seem like he might have grown to that tall (His height was plateaued for many years)


I like Bam (Joey Dorsey is easily one of my favorite college C's ever..) Some of these other players are remarkable tho; Justin Patton (who had 1 scholarship offer..)might have some real star power - He's got the potential to contribute in most every facet of the game..

Rik Smits son Derrik is a 7'2" 240lb 20 y/o Fr. C for Valparaiso with a wide frame. He was supposed to be a freshman last yea rbut had to RS. He's on ESPN2 right now (and DX's projected 1st rder Alec Peters). Coming off a career-high 11pts he's just getting started. Interesting player to watch.

Trade all the picks for Robert "The Rocketeer" Williams. Thats the move. He's on CBS right now in a close game vs South Carolina and started at PF!

Willians makes these absurdly athletic plays look routine, often times in close succession.. it's he's sure to be a crowd favorite on any NBA team he lands on..

I'm certain the only reason why he doesn't have way more hype is for no other reason than just because people haven't seen him yet..

I can tell you with great certainty that if you watch him long enough you'll conclude "why is this other team even testing this guy?" Thats the type of shotblocker he is..
 
So I was saying Hogg's performance was anomalous the other day vs UK... He's raining down 3's like it's practice in this one 7/9, all going in the same way too, hitting the backrim and going straight down.

The Justin Patton show is continuing at Providence right now too. He might put up 20 again. Blocks assists, he does it all.


Creighton's PG is irrelevant to this thread. He's ahead of Lonzo ball in assists per game though. Pretty sure Lonzo's dad predicted he'd lead the nation.
 
Do you guys think TJ Leaf can play playmaking 4? I don't see him being able to defend 3s in the league, but if he can be respectable against 4s, he might be a nice player. They are using him as a playmaker from the high post a LOT and his passing is great for a forward.

Not watching but rather unsuprised by this tweet. Like I've been saying Marques Bolden has gotta be one of player in 1st rd mocks getting the most undue benefit of the doubt..


I'd say having him in the 1st indicates the mock is ****..

If he can't stay on the floor and gain experience in a game the Blue Devils lead by 22, he's going to find it hard to get playing time in games that matter.

Not as well as Lyles. He's got comprable ball-skills/passing/offensive game tho.
 
Sucks UNC - NC State was postponed. The way DS4's (and Berry) been playing of late he'd have probably dropped 30 and put on a real show

Reminds me of Love after his frosh season in this respect - there were reasons not to like him as a prospect, kinda wondered where he'd fit, etc, but ultimately, when you would watch him, he was usually the most productive player on the floor, outplayed the other bigs and he was just really good at playing basketball. I don't know where Leaf will fit, what his role will be, but he'll figure it out because he's awesome at playing basketbsll

I think he's clearly a 3, he's like Kyle Singler with sharper tools.
