Andy Larsen Article on Favors

My dream would be Danillo Gallinari

My realistic dream would be Patrick Patterson

My realistic possibility would be Anthony Toliver

The Celtics are a playoff team, they arent giving up their rotation pieces.

Well if there's a chance for improvement to compete with a Cleveland I don't see why not. I mean we're a playoff team as well, and by all appearances we're looking to give up a heavy rotation piece. But, they have been on a hot streak and I expect you're right.

Just trying to think of a trade that would fit the criteria of salary, fit and chemistry and it's not easy. Truthfully I hope we keep Favors for the rest of the season because I think his stock is so low right now that the only offers we're going to get will be more of a gamble than Faves staying healthy enough to give us minutes. I'm most concerned about our backup center situation and even at Favors' compromised level, he's still a significant upgrade over Withey.

Olynyk is huge for them and I dont think Amir Johnson is a good fit for us.

Probably right. I'd definitely be happy with your list of Galinari, Patterson or Tolliver assuming the pricetag would be Favors and the GS pick.

What? I wouldn't trade Favors and the GS pick for any of those dudes. Thats horrible. I wouldn't even do Favors for any of them straight up except maybe Gallinari.

It sucks for Favors but it happens, big men that see their knees buckle under them too soon have been numerous, it doesn't need to come from a massive injury, if you meniscus is just melting fast, without really splintering or anything, just being rubbed away quickly, there isn't much you can do.

Still, even if it sucks for the Jazz (and of course more so for him), the team is in a decent position to weather the issue and it does to some extent simplify their choices to come.

"some around the team worry that Favors won't ever get back to being the explosive player that he once was"

This was the question I've been asking here on Jazzfanz. His injury seems hard to define, and has been lingering for sometime now.

Will a another offseason help him fully recover? Seems like some in the organization don't believe so.

Keeping a healthy Favors is a no brainer, but we have a big question mark on our hands.

A healthy Favors, I agree, no way. But there's no question that the cat's out of the bag. He's damaged goods and the entire league knows it. Regarding the GS pick that was more of a question of what we'd have to give up for those guys, particularly Gallinari.

Lowe said Utah is sort of shopping Favors.

They've tested the market for Derrick Favors over the last few weeks, according to several league sources; Favors hasn't been quite the same since coming back from injury, and Utah plays Favors and Rudy Gobert together for only 10 or 12 minutes per game.

Utah's seriousness on Favors is unclear; they are mum as usual, and they don't want to weaken their team ahead of the playoffs with Hayward heading to free agency. Favors is still an important player. They could be testing the market ahead of a trade around the draft.

It might be best to wait to trade Favors at the draft... Him and a pick or 2 for a big like SEC Freshman of the week, Robert Williams. who's got an eerily similar build and he's immeasurably more explosive than what we've seen this season from Derrick...

Even Injured he is outplaying and better than a lot of the players suggested we trade him for like Tolliver and Patterson.

We cant trade him for a draft pick unless we get another player to be our PF for the next couple years. Rookies dont help win. It would be a big step back to trade Favors for a rookie.

Put in a winning overbid on JaMychal Green - problem solved.

Ersan Illyasova or Terrence Jones could be interesting short-term options too..
