Suns Are "Eyeing" Favors

In my opinion the Jazz never fully trusted in Millsap. It has been a big mistake let him go, in addition for nothing in nothing in exchange. The Jazz made several miscalculations in the last years...Korver, Wesley Matthews, DeMarre Carroll..

We have don't know if Enes was a better fit playing with Gobert rather than Favors.
Great post

Favors has never showed a comprehensive skill set like Millsap. Even then, Millsap was underpaid and undervalued. For crying out loud, we forced him to play SF. Favors has always been trusted and given the keys for success. He's been good for us, but he has never dominated. The chance of Favors being a West All Star is practically zero. Too much quality competition.

He was forced to play SF and we let him leave because Favors outplayed him... There is no chance Millsap would have been an all-star in the Western Conference any year.

I disagree. Favors was key to the Deron trade and we felt it necessary to give him the PF position based off of potential.

This is a dumb discussion anyway. 10 out of 10 gms take Millsap over Favors the last 5 years.

We only know of 1 team that had a choice. That is the Jazz and they chose Favors so clearly that ruins your argument of 10 out of 10. I think most GMs (like the Jazz did) would have chosen Favors up until this year over Millsap if given a choice.

So the Jazz have chosen Favors over Millsap and Enes, and now they are trying to trade him? The Jazz lost faith in Favors?

If 10 gms look back on the last 5 years, they all pick Millsap. Not even close. Millsap is one of the best all around players in the entire league. The entire league. He doesn't have a weakness other than LeBron James.

1st of all they are just rumors. We have not got rid of him yet. Rumors tend to not be true.

If they are true than his health is the biggest factor. If they dont think he will get back to 100% health than of course they have lost faith in him.

Name a weakness in his game. All NBA D, passer, shooter, facilitator, everything. With Teague or Schoeder, Bazemore or Korver, Horford or Dwight - Millsap is the best player on a team that's continually top 4 in the East. With him this year, we would be 5 wins better. We would be a 2 or 3 seed.

What is a healthy Favors?

Seriously though, you have to admit that basketball is all about spacing. Favors and Gobert doesn't work for playoff ball. Millsap is the perfect fit. Getting Gobert after letting Millsap walk is just perfect Jazz luck.

Locke is tweeting about Gallo... say what you want he's pretty good at knowing what is going and had some times... like the Trey Lyles pick... where he predicted the future.

Bookmark it... just saying

Oh, and Millsap struggles against LeBron after getting his teams to the 2nd round or even East Finals. With Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver as leaders.

A healthy Favors is what we saw last year until the left knee injury late in the season. We may never see him healthy again. At this point I would rather have Millsap but that is because of injuries not because of anything else.

Favors played well with Gobert last season, especially considering all the injuries we had as a team and right after we traded Kanter they played great together. Even injured Favors is a better mid range shooter than Millsap right now. I think Favors can stretch out to the 3 point line as well. The biggest thing Favors is missing injured is his explosion near the rim. He is terrible right now at the rim unlike previous seasons where he has been pretty good.

Millsap is shooting 43%. That is a rough number. He is not shooting that well from 3 point land the last couple years and those numbers drop in the playoffs bad. Last year he shot 24% from three. He has not played well in the playoffs were being undersized has really hurt him his whole career.

There are 38 bigs in the NBA shooting better percentages than him from the field(that is just the ones that qualify by minutes and games). There are 15 PFs(that is not including all the SFs that play small ball PFs) shooting better from 3 point land than Millsap. Millsap is basically shooting the same percentage from three as Lyles who is really struggling from three. I assume Lyles will improve from three point land and break out of his sophomore slump. Millsap is going downhill shooting wise and I expect that will continue. Millsap is 26th in the NBA in rebounding per 48 and rebounding percentage is very low. He is one of the bottom rebounders at PF in the league right now. His blocks percentage and blocks per 48 or per 100 possessions put him around 30th out of PFs in the NBA. He commits a lot of fouls right now. He turns the ball over more than almost every PF or Center in the League. Only 6 bigs turn the ball over more than him and 5 of those have way higher usage rates and handle the ball more like Cousins, Griffin and Green and those players have a much better assist to TO percentage.

There are a lot of better stretch 4s that would be a better fit for the Jazz and ones that are not on the bad side of their careers age wise. Millsap is on his way down and next year will be even worse.

Millsap is a bad fit for this team. His numbers are not that good and going down. He is getting old fast. He is a UFA in a few months and will sign for more than the Jazz should pay him.

His team carried him to the finals... The only game he played well in against the Cs his team lost. He had other monster games like his 4 point 1-12 shooting game that his team won for him. Although he tried to lose that series.
