Yall better come prepared this season. It looks like you both will have expanded roles and a real chance to prove yourselves and get into the regular rotation. As of right now, we only have one player over 6'9 other than yall, and he is currently a gimp, and he will probably be a gimp for the rest of his career.

To Koufus, please grow some balls. You are 7'1, there is no reason you shouldnt be able to finish at the rim with relative ease. Also, please learn to hit a midrange jumpshot we all thought you where suppose to be good at. Please come into the season with some added bulk, we are going to need it,

To Fess, grow up. Hit the weight room, you have an extraordinary frame and size, its time to put some muscle into it and lose the baby fat. You are also 7'1 and wide as hell, there is no reason you shouldnt be a monster on the glass. You are already a good finish around the rim, but you can get better, much better.

From what I saw in the playoffs, neither looked prepared to play big minutes let alone start. Especially Kosta, who couldn't get a shot off without being stuffed.

I would never call him a good finisher around the rim (theres a joke there). If you mean with no one around him, that he can dunk than sure. Other than that he has worse hands than Ostertag so you'd basically have to hand it off football style to him under the rim for him to "finish". He's an offensive disaster.

Neither has an offensive game from what I've seen.

Defensively, neither seemed to have much of an effect. At least Fess is big, but you would have thought that he could have blocked shots at a higher rate than a SG Kobe Bryant in the playoffs. But all well....
Kosta is just a lost cause. He doesn't even play tough inside from what I've seen. It's one thing to not have talent but to at least be tough, like Ben H. But to not have much talent and be softer than tissue paper is another. How often I saw Kosta give ground and give up good position and easy scores when he played last year...

It will be interesting to see how we address this issue, especially with question marks about Memo's future.

This is one of the things I'm talking about. Kosta has at least 1 foot on Ty. It was a tie ballgame in the 4th, why isn't Ty's shot blocked? Why isn't Ty on his *** forced to earn it from the line?

Here's another one. Amare isn't even a very physical player yet Kosta gives up waaaaaayyyyyyyy too much ground before the help defense could even react Amare is posterizing him. You can't play post defense without meeting the offensive player with contact. Yet, Kosta does this time after time after time again. He seems to be allergic to physical contact. At least Fess would provide a little more resistance because of his height and weight. But even then, I think we're in big trouble.

I'm curious, if they both blow, how do you think we finish next year? Do we make the playoffs?

i guess it kind of depends on how soon memo can get back and other moves we make in the offseason but i bet we wouldn't start the season very well.

Lets assume he's averaging what he did last year, 14 points and 7 rebounds by December.

Do you see a playoff team dropping? Probably Phx if they lose Amare. Denver possibly? NO? SA?
What about a non-playoff team jumping? Is Sacramento a playoff team? Memphis? The Clippers (hey don't laugh, I think Blake Griffin and Kaman are going to be studs inside)?

What do you guys think?

Lakers,Portland,Denver,Thunder are the top 4 locks for the playoffs. Spurs,Mavs, and Suns are getting old, Mavs dont know if Dirk is coming back, Suns wont have Amare. Rockets have health issues with Yao, they arent making the playoffs without a healhty Yao. Grizzlies and Clippers are the Grizzlies and Clippers, something always goes wrong, or their organization screws everything up for them.

I think we make the playoffs if Dwill and Sap stay relatively healthy, and Matthews and Miles both make relative improvements in their game to prepare for expanded offensive roles.

The thing about Koufos is he dramatically regressed from his rookie season. Not quite ready to give up on a 7-footer who can shoot the ball out to 20 feet, but if he doesn't show any development in his 3rd-year it's safe to consider him a bust.

If Utah doesn't resign Boozer and stands pat, Memo can return by December and we go into the season with a team of:
PG Williams Price Gaines
SG Matthews Miles
SF Kirilenko Hayward
PF Millsap AK/FA
C Okur/Koufos/Fesenko
I think we're in the 6-9 range in the West, and Deron's going to have to up his FG attempts and scoring average to around 24 ppg, which he's capable of doing. In addition to AK playing PF, in '05-06 we saw Memo could avg about 18ppg playing PF, as always the problem is how much is he going to give up at the other end.

I think it is possible SA might struggle with the aging of Duncan and Manu.

I think it is possible Dallas might struggle with an aging J Kidd and (to a lesser extent) Dirk.

I think it is possible Phoenix could struggle if they lose Amare; we could finally see a dropoff in Nash's game.

I don't think NO has the pieces (even with a healthy CP3) to do better than 5-8 seed as-is now.

Having said that, watch for LAC and Sacramento (and possibly Memphis) to possibly make some playoffs noise.

It could be an interesting year in the West.

Dear Kosta and Fess: it's time for a haircut, both of you. Kosta, you're going to have to go all bald, but that's ok, it's a good look for a 21 year-old with darth vader skin.
Fes, time to let go of the Ukranian Mushroom cloud. Try something a little more contemporary, like the Bieber.

To Sloan,

I was progressing along in a positive direction until you DNP'd me for no reason in February 2009. I've worked hard in practice, but you made no effort to find me time, even when the game outcome wasn't in question (not that I was going to hurt the team anyway. After all, Memo might have a jump shot, but his defense sucks, even when he tries, and I rebound at about the same rate as he does). I didn't want to come back in 2009 having regressed, but it took me months of piecemeal PT before I had a Boom B**tches moment.

Signed,

Kosta Koufos

To Sloan,

Yes, I have been lazy and have had bad habits. Yes, I'd be a better player if I worked out. But I'm still in the neighborhood of impact that Okur or an undersized PF has at the 5 spot. My play in the playoffs (where I'm not supposed to be in development mode, btw) showed that, as in every game--even as a starter--I contributed to the team being better off pointwise than when I was off the court. Too bad you didn't give me more playing time during the regular season, even in those occasions when I did somewhat well. Too bad that I didn't have enough game experience to contribute more than I did in the playoffs. You were enamored by the matador defensive combinations from Boozer and Okur. Just 8 or 10 minutes a game on a regular basis would've been enough for me to be further along than I was at your paltry 3 MPG (based on games available). So while I'm partially at fault for my lack of progress, you're not off scot free for not putting me in a position to get essential game experience UNTIL injuries forced you to. Not a great strategy for developing young players and making your team deeper. In any case, the team suffered for my not having being a more seasoned player on the court, and minutes are the only way to get that. If I play 8 or 10 minutes and I suck, sit me down. If I play 8 or 10 and control the paint and log a few points & rebounds, give me more time because I'm helping the team more than just holding serve. This seems like Coaching 101; not sure why I need to remind you of this. Heck, you gave CJ Miles year upon year of chances, even though you had more depth at the 2/3 spot than you did for me at the 5 spot.

Signed,

Kyrylo Fesenko.

BRAVO BRAVO! And that is not sarcasm. I couldn't have said it better. I fully agree 100% with everything you said. They need experience. GAME EXPERIENCE. They are only rookies with there experience. Sloan is not used to Project players. Guys weren't being drafted as young as they are back in the 80's and 90's. It was more rare. And Sloan isn't used to Projects. He treats them the same as the other players. When in fact coaching involves adapting to the players you have. Not babying them but adapting to there strengths and weaknesses. And Sloan does not do that. He does not understand guys who are raw need playing time and experience. Guys who have NBA games can not play for weeks than come in and hit shots.
There is a reason why they call some players raw talent and some NBA ready........... Don't you think they need to be coached differently?

Fesenko won't be back. Probaby in Europe next year if he's lucky. Doufos needs to spend the entire season in Orem.
