What's new

Farewell to Andrei

I feel that that is too much money to pay for AK at this juncture. I'd take him for 3 years, 10 million. I love AK, and it's a shame the way things turned out with him. I always had high hopes for him -- and sometimes he exceeded them in spectacular fashion. And I'll always love him for giving me those thrills and chills. But if he wants 5 million a year, it's time for a divorce.

Sorry, AK. You look like a crone from a child's night terrors.

Even raja bell gets 10 in 3 yr, it would be an insult to kirilenko to offer such a deal

And despite all this, the homers here are still ready to sign him up for 7-8 mil for 3 years.

Nope. Haven't seen a single AK homer say this in 3 months. Keep yappin this BS. Maybe it will come true.

For all the grief Boozer took about his durability, he still didnt miss a single playoffs game for the Jazz. Can you say the same about Fragilenko?

Good point. Boozer is a stud, but I don't remember you doing anything but complaining. Maybe I'm wrong. You and Sloanfeld should get together.

Nope. Find one person. You can't. Keep saying it, maybe it will come true.

Again. Blah, blah blah. Maybe it will come true

Like someone else mentioned earlier, AK will play 60-65 games every year and will show up in half of them. He is not the veteran presence the Jazz need off the bench. Because he is not the mentoring type who will sow the young guys how to do with toughness. He may probably teach them which novels to read and what games to play once the game is over.

Won't argue. Good point.

And for the standard argument that he helps us win games, well how many did he help us win this year, especially after the "villians" Sloan and Deron left?
The convenient excuse for AK homers was that it was first Sloan, then Boozer who took away his PF spot and then later Deron who wouldnt pass to AK, who all conspired together to destroy poor AK's game. Otherwise he would have been a multiple all star with 2-3 championships already. With all those villians gone now what did AK do this season and especially since February?

Who cares? AK will be somewhere else. He sucks. Get over it.

Yep. You're right. Yawn.
For a rebuilding team that needs mins for its young players and some veteran toughness he doesnt quite cut it. AK and toughness doesnt belong in the same sentence. You can add durability as well. Those are things a PER or a +/- type of stat does not quite convey.

No doubt.

Good point. You should say that 50 more times. Awesome.

Yawn....Totally awesome. You rock

AK right now is a guy who plays well when everything around him is clicking and other guys are playing well. When the team loses, he quickly ducks out. He would be a good addition to a team like the Celtics maybe, who always need a veteran wing off the bench.

Who are you trying to convince?

TIME TO START OVER.

Let the bum walk. There is no reason to keep him, he'd have to pay the Jazz money to make it worth it. Can we please just accept it's rebuilding time and ****ing go with it?

This is my take on the whole Andrei situation:

Selfishly, I want him resigned because he makes us better. And if we got the right deal to keep him, I'd take it.

But because I love Andrei, I'd like to see him go. Unlike other people, I greatly appreciate his worth as a basketball player.

So I'd like to see him sign with a real contender to finish his career. I really believe he could be a key component to a team winning a championship. He's so much better than most people here think he is. And I'd like to see him go out that way.

I agree with this. It's why I say it is probably better for both to move on.

I want the Jazz to rebuild in a hurry and I kind of see Andrei as a hindrance to that. He would make us better on the court (when he plays) but he would also get minutes that I believe are better used to develop Hayward, Evans and our potential draft picks.

I will not be upset either way if he stays or goes. But again in the long run it's probably better for both to move on.

Wouldn't it make more sense to take whatever we were going to offer AK and offer it to Battier? I'm guessing most would scoff at that idea, but Battier actually does everything that we've delusionally convinced ourselves AK does.

What is Battier's incentive to come to a rebuilding team? AK lives here and likes it here he wants to be here. Why would Battier even consider Utah at this time?

It's obvious we don't need him anymore.

We have plenty of shotblockers and dunkers now. We need shooters and guys that can create off the dribble. Preferably guys that can stay healthy and play hard more than half the time. Sorry homers! Don't let the door hit you on the *** on the way out!

Not necessarily saying he would. He'll probably get picked up by someone like San Antonio. Had our team not have collapsed I would have thought there'd be a good chance he ends up here. In any case, I'd rather pay the full MLE for Battier than pay the minimum for AK. I don't think someone being a decent or even good player is justification for having them on the team. We will be a better team without AK. If we bring him back we're looking at another year of the same crap and another lottery pick. We will continue to do this until we realize that toughness and mentality far outweight whatever "x-factors" we continue to say certain players bring. Him being a veteran is irrelevant.

The thing we need to divorce ourselves from with Andrei is our dreams from the past.

No one is talking about the Kirilenko of the past, except the people who want him to leave, because they hate how he didn't live up to that potential, out of all reason compared to the player he actually is.

*correction, 20 games
Played in 64, missed 20. Did the season expand to 84 games?

5 rebounds
What's the standard rebound rate for a starting small forward? Normally 4-6, right? So, you're complaining that he's actually performing as he should in that category?

I would love for us to face AK in another uniform. We'd have a free defender to help out on other guys... And offensively all our SF would have to do is pumpfake and drive in for a layup.

This, as every year, both our offense (by 4 points per 100 possessions) and our defense (maginally) improved when Kirilenko was on the floor.

No ones talking about paying him star money. But this type of hatred is not rational.

No, people are unconsciously holding to the past by failing to acknowledge how big of a cancer this guy is.

So, this is a farewell to AK thread, and we've got a bunch of posters ****tin it up with half undeserved hatred.

Isn't that along the same lines as the Westboro Baptist Church protesting military funerals?

Get some class guys.

/end whiteknighting

I've been a longtime supporter of Andrei, but it is time to move on for both parties. He can be a game changer, but that goes both ways, good and bad. The team needs to move on and not have to worry about catering to him and wondering how long his calf/back/ankle will hold up and tweaking the offense to keep him happy. He needs to move on and find a team that needs a player like him. I really don't see how bringing him back will help the team move forward.

Hahaha. Wow. The Thriller strikes again?

If we want to start talking about underappreciation and unjustified hate let's shift the discussion to Memo.

Almost every player on this team occasionally gets under appreciated and unjustified hate. Jefferson, Millsap, CJ, AK, Memo, Harris, Hayward, Fessenko, and even Raja(god that guy sucks ***). It's part of being on a message board.

What stats did I make up?

Sorry, but PER crap is made up stats. I've seen them used to make Fess look like a half decent center. Sorry willie, time for you to become a warrior or bulls fan... Or wherever AK winds up.

Sorry folks, AK just doesn't make this team better. He hurts us just as much (if not more) than helps. He needs a team that doesn't care about defense, posting up, and winning. A perfect place for him would be Golden State. A team that will let him be the man, shoot as much as he wants, and run.
