What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

They framed up a bunch of black kids for murder, some of these guys did nearly 20 years, the detective that did it from memory never had to answer for it. Its pretty disgusting, they stole these blokes lives. They guy who actually did it was a serial rapist who got a taste for killing he was busted after these kids had been convicted. Basically the whole affair would be described in my part of the world as definitely not cricket.

Forget that! I'm completely wrong! The film i'm talking about is the Central Park Five, so hard to keep up with all these miscarriages of justice committed in the US.

So what's the gist, and what is the perceived/estimated spin factor (i.e. 0% = dead on the truth and 100% = spun every which way from Sunday to make a more entertaining story and piss people off)?

Who knows but it seems to be the exact opposite of Making a Murderer in that entertainment value and intrigue are not of the utmost concern, and only objectivity and justice are.

Rubachev, while wrong, was sort of close to what happened. I forget the years but I think in the late 70's, two blacks, a man and woman, are murdered in the bleachers of an outdoor community pool area at 1 in the morning. There were six (if memory serves) witnesses, all black, who saw this one black man (I wanna say his name was Anthony Porter) shoot and kill these two people. SIX EYEWITNESSES. He had been a known scumbag mind you. The guy is convicted and goes to jail. Years later (20?), as part of some special program, a Northwestern professor (Poythress--who must also be the devil) and some of his students, try to get Porter out of jail. Who knows why? He used the services of a local PI too to help in the case, another guy who deserves to rot in hell. Of the original six witnesses, one was dead, four were never re-interviewed, and only one was. They pushed hard on that one guy like crazy to the point he recanted his story and Porter got out, while the professor and PI also framed an innocent man by bribing his ex-wife into saying she saw him (forget his name) murder the victims. An absolute atrocity of justice. My 500 words here do the gross miscarriage that took place no justice. A few years after this happened that POS professor tried twisting facts in another case and was subsequently let go by Northwestern. He and the PI still walk free and are in the process along with the University of being sued for 40M by the man who was framed and went to jail for a good 15 or so years until recently getting out. I'd say **** 40M. He should get more than that and those two scumbag men should rot in jail for the rest of their lives. This isn't professionals making a mistake. This was two adult males who are supposed to uphold truth and justice, given their professions, grossly and purposefully ****ing people over and getting a guilty man out for what seemed to me, no other reason, than ego, a ****ed up sense of power, maybe greed, and I would also wager some twisted cynical, evil kicks.

King Kong: Skull Island! Paid $5 bucks for a weekday matinee, brought in my own popcorn, drink and candy! Had I paid $6 bucks to get in....I would have gone back to get my change!

So you liked it for $5? I appreciate how in tune you are with your economic utility evaluations.

Finally watched Rogue One. Good movie, I really liked it. I really like the direction Disney is taking the over all feel of the movies. They have introduced a ton more realism.

Fate of the Furious.

Very Meh.

But my date wanted to see it.. so.. had to go. Hopefully she returns the favor and willing to go see Alien Covenent with me. Fingers crossed.

I gave up on "Repeat of the Furious 3" or whatever. Boring.

I just saw Moana last night. It was okay, but I liked the music. I have a bit of a crush on Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Ok, so I was flying to Europe and back so on 9 hr flight it is perfect opportunity to watch some movies. So I watched " Me before you" - E.Clarke did awesome job but movie was kind of predictable. "Unbreakable" watched it just to find out what kind of connection it had to "Split"... pretty decent movie, I liked it despite numerous people telling me that it sucked. "Manchester by the sea" - great movie, the best of the trip, nothing else to add. "Pompei" - really bad, waste of time. "Passengers" - love SF movies like that even if some of the stuff there was so unrealistic and bizarre. Would prefer a different ending there...

I liked Ghost in a shell.. Never saw the cartoon but Scarlett Jo did a damn good job and the effects are some of the best you'll see..

thats a quality sci-fi flick, for sure. Take it from someone who's waded thru tons of crap in that genre.

Lucky you hadn't seen the original anime so your expectations is probably relatively low.... but fingers crossed it's as good as you said it is. I'll still try to keep my expectation very low though.
