2017 Exit Interviews

IDK about decent. I think he is going to get a minimum contract ,or slightly above it. NBA teams arent going to give too much $$$ to guys who are 9th/10th guys (at best) on a team. I think he gets somewhere though, too many teams need a backup PG. Chicago and OKC are two examples where they are dealing with straight trash at the position.

3yrs/$20M from Washington to be Wall's backup.

Why was this moved the News forums? This has One Love's fingerprints all over it.

Edit: And now it's back. OL officially confirmed.

I don't know how Mack would be pissed at playing time, he got a lot of run all playoffs, the biggest stage for himself. I don't know how much it'll be but there will definitely be some contract offers. Good for him. He plays hard. The team tend to play well when he's on the floor so he plays the right way. It's just when you are playing golden state and Mack is playing key minutes, you know, that's it. For a team to take the next step you need to improve roster positions like Mack (whether that's improving from the inside by either Neto or Exum taking a step forward, or signing someone). He could be a very good backup for a team in a different place than we are.

I think if you are in a contract year and you arent getting minutes you are going to be upset.

Exum and Hood both sounded a bit frustrated. Sounds like the pressure of their contract year coming up is getting to them since they are both kind of trending down on the Jazz's priority scale.

what do you mean 'trending down the priority scale'?

I hope Hayward does just let his agent handle things for him. He'll get a bigger cut here than anywhere else :D

Is it this offseason where Exum and Hood would be looking at extensions?

Sounds as though, after 93 gms of saying the right things re: roles/starting/etc, some of the young Jazz saved their frustrations for today.

Speaking of Hood and Exum.

The Jazz starting Ingles over Hood tells me their priority isnt making Hood the long-term starter anymore.

The Jazz trying to extend Hill during the season and letting guys like Neto/Mack over him at times tell me his development isnt the top priority.

Basically, the Jazz are more concerned about the lineups that they feel work the best and help them win rather than the development of Hood/Exum. If that continues, that means they are no longer guaranteed minutes or a set role, which during your contract year could hurt your value. That's a lot of pressure on them. Hopefully they respond well.

WTF does Hood have to be upset about?

We're coming up on an hour waiting for Trey Lyles, our last player interview.

Wow, So has trey been in with management that whole time? I wonder what that conversation was like.

If Hood feels like he's getting left behind, then he's a total bitch. We need that guy to get back onto his year-2 development trajectory ASAP. He's exactly the type of player we need.

Exum... well, **** it. I'm not feeding the Exum discourse.

We need both these players to pan out. The rebuild could bust, otherwise.

I'm taking your word for it, but I am amazed. Hood got plenty of PT despite being the worst player on the team most of the season.

WTF does Hood have to be upset about?

He sounded frustrated by the benching when asked if he thought he played better off the bench or starting. Said he feels like he is a starter and not a bench player.

I dont think he feels he is getting left behind, but it's undeniable the NBA values players who can be starters over players who come off the bench. I also think he was just generally frustrated by how ****ty he has played and the knee sprain. I wouldn't read too much into it being a problem with Hood, just seemed like a lot of stuff built up with him.

Damn, DL got on a plain to go to the Combine. What a bish. I wanted to hear his exit interview.

Hood was injured so much, and even when he played he was rarely 100%. It's hard to blame Quin for going with the more reliable Ingles to try to develop some on-court chemistry.IF Hood wants to be a starter he has to stay healthy (not really something he can 100% control) and make sure he performs consistently. It wouldn't surprise me if he was starting again to start next season.
