Motiejunas List Jazz as Potential Landing Spot

inb4 Jazz fans sick of Favors' injuries unironically can't wait to get DMo.

At what cost? I would like to have him here, but not overpay.

Why would he get overpaid by anyone? Honestly I don't think I've ever seen him play, but just looking at his career stats he looks pretty "meh" to me. 7.3 pts and 4 reb per game or something like that.

I think with him, given the glut of big men now in the NBA and his injury issues, the Jazz are probably looking at something slightly above the vet minimum. None of those teams he listed as teams he wants to join has money to really start any kind of significant bidding war. From the tweet I posted, it seems like his goal is just join a team on a short-term (probably like 2 year at most) to prove his value then hopefully get a bigger contract after that.

So I think something like a 2 year 4 million dollar contract could seal it. 2 million a year is about double we paid Withey this past year. I think it's a solid deal and kind of a no brainer if that is all it takes. He is a good contrast to Bolomboy as a backup 5.

I doubt that is what he is looking for, but if that is the cost I'd be in... I don't think we should spend too much in the center market... it is somewhat depressed.

Didn't read that prior to post... interesting. If he did a make-good contract 2 years for 4-6 M with PO on second year I'd be in. He might work well in the system although if he caught our injury bug he will never play.

Who would people rather have as back up C? Withey or DMo?

If cost is equal DMo... more potential. Withey is kind of a replacement value type imo. He had some good flashes a year ago and played his role fine, but more upside with DMo

He played this past year for 600K

After he turned down 4/40 or had similar offers. His agent effed him up pretty bad. Even more reason to get cash if it is there... it may not be there though.

It comes down to this. All those teams he listed, none of them have cap-space for anything outside of the MLE. I doubt any of those teams give him the MLE. Brooklyn did give him a 36/4 year deal, but IDK if he can sign with them again yet because of the whole thing that happened. Might have to wait a full year. Nothing he did in New Orleans really raised his value though, and I think he realizes that and wants to go to a team where he can succeed on so he can get back to that Brooklyn deal.

He took the 36/4 year deal Brooklyn offered. Then Houston matched and took out like 5 million dollars worth of bonus incentives Brooklyn had in the contract so they refused to play for Houston. Then eventually Houston let him be a UFA and he signed with New Orleans.

I'd rather just draft a backup 5 tbh. This class is deep with talented bigs. Motiejunas can't rebound or defend and his shooting averages excluding 2014-2015 are terrible.

I loved this guy in that draft....which just goes to show I should not be looking at the draft.
