Following potential 2017 draftees...

If we trade Diaw's contract it means we're taking back bad salary. The way we're structured, if we dump Diaw and Burks then that gives us just under the LT assuming we resign Hill, Hayward and Ingles. The question is really would you think it valuable enough to move up a few spots to sacrifice one of those guys? I think, with few exception, any move taking back salary in order to land another 'asset,' rather than an actual piece, would be an awkward, off-balanced side-shuffle right as we were picking up momentum on the original trajectory.

The Jazz aren't going to take a terrible contract from a team in return for moving up in the draft. We are already basically over the cap and we have a lot of roster decisions to make this off season and next off season. We don't need a bad contract costing us the ability to re-sign our own players.

I just have a hard time seeing the jazz move up in to the teens in this draft.

Who ever you draft at 14 or 15 might not be as good as who you get at 30.

I agree, sort of. I think Cy pointed this out already... in the back half of this draft there are more bigs with potential than pgs or wings. If the Jazz believe they must have another young wing in the works they will have to move up to get him. If they are looking for two quality back up bigs they can stand pat at 24 & 30.

I like Justin Jackson, I don't know how the jazz reach him without gutting the team.

The Jazz might be able to package 24 and 30 move up to 18 or maybe 17 in this draft. That doesn't involve taking back salary.

Is it worth it though? I mean... if they target a specific player they think is a can't miss prospect I guess they can do it... but I kind of think past 12-13 the next 10-15 players are not ones I would trade up for.

I think Jackson or Kennard could be worth it if they are available there.

A few guys are worth it. Plus, they may not want to take on more than a couple rookies.

Does Hood/24/30 get you into the top 10? Maybe NYK at #8...Would people do that? I think I would would if Markkanen was still on the board (as long as it doesn't affect our chances of re-signing Hayward).

I dont think you trade Hood if you want to keep Hayward.

The guy I wonder about is Lyles. He fell off a cliff this year. If the Jazz no longer believe in him, they could flip him and bring in a guy like Leaf to replace him. A few other bigs in this draft could possibly do it as well.

Trading Lyles probably won't mean too much to Hayward.

If Indiana still likes Lyles, they could give the Jazz 18 straight across. The Jazz still have Favors and Johnson who can play the 4.
