Following potential 2017 draftees...

Catchall One more Euro scout with not very flattering analysis on Rodions Kurucs. I just listened to The Rights to Ricky Sanchez podcast and Elan Vinokurov said this: "Injuries have slowed his development, he's not even playing for Barcelona's first team. He's very far away from being a contributor on an NBA team. Maybe he becomes a Sam Dekker? Or Casspi... down the line... like in 5 years?"

He seems like a pure draft and stash prospect. I would not want to start his contract clock by bringing him to the NBA this year.

Right now as of 6/3/2017 this is who i am leaning to for each pick (based on DX availablilty)

#24 - Jonathan Jeanne or Jordan Bell
#30 - Bell, Derrick White, Josh Hart, Thomas Bryant, Frank Jackson
#42 - Semi Ojeleye, Frank Jackson, Tony Bradley, Josh Hart, Dillon Brooks, Jonah Bolden
#55 - Tyler Dorsey, Cam Oliver, Wesley Iwundu, Sindarius Thornwell, Dwayne Bacon

IF these are the players available I think i would select

Bell
Jackson
Ojeleye
Thornwell

Depends on what you want
Frank has better bling term potential but will take longer to develop and White is more ready now but not as high of a ceiling

Out of curiosity, who would you like to draft between White (Colorado) and Frank Jackson (Duke)? At some point in this draft, I'd like to see us draft a combo guard who could create. Which between the two do you like more?

But I am a huge Sam Dekker fan. He is being compared to Dekker.

Kurucs looks like a guy who can create with the ball in his hands at (now) 6'9". He can make a play with the pass, drive and get on the rim, and shoot jumpers comfortably off the catch and off the bounce. So he looks like a triple-threat player with good length and adequate athleticism for a wing. He's not a magician with the ball, but a guy with IQ that you can plug into a system like Quin's. I'm going off of mostly highlights. Maybe his percentages aren't great or he has lapses. The guy is very young, so he's someone you're picking based on potential. It's a bit like Korkmaz last year. He's not ready physically for the NBA, but few 19 year-old wings are. The Jazz drafted Kirilenko as a 19 year-old and stashed him. The question is whether Kurucs is talented enough to spend a pick on. The general consensus seems to be that he's just above our range in the late teens and early 20s.

This scout on the Sixers' podcast is down on all the Euros, though that particular podcast made an effort to avoid talking about bigs.

I'm okay with Dwayne Bacon at 42 if he's there. He could benefit from practicing with Joe Johnson. Bacon is a talented scorer. It's just a question of whether he'll get smoked defensively.

(See what I did there?)

smdh new DX mock has us taking Bam and Lydon at 24 and 30. If someone told me to pick my least favorite picks at 24 and 30, those two might be it.

Congrats to DX for finally projecting Bam in the first round. They moved him up from 32. I still think it's unlikely he'll be on the board when Utah picks.

There's quite a bit of other movement on DX Mock:

** Fox at #4 to PHX ahead of Tatum. This would make Bledsoe more available in theory.
** Markkanen moved up to #7; they must have loved watching him shoot in his workout.
** Dennis Smith down to #10 (Kings)
** Kennard up to #11 ahead of Mitchell and Zach Collins is eye-opening
** Jeanne up to #22, out of the Jazz's reach
** Kurucs dropped 8 spots down to 29 (Spurs)
** Ojeleye also moved up to the 2nd round (up to 27 from mid-30s)

I don't know what they base this upon. There are some pretty big swings with their player projections.

My worst fear would be Terrance Ferguson and Ivan Rabb I think. Lydon would be a pretty poor result too. Bam I would be indifferent to unless they picked him over someone else that was available who I liked a lot.

It's been a while, but Ferguson reminds me of Thompson before he was drafted. Thompson was who I wanted with the 12th pick that year. There were some similarities in their games on offense. Defense will probably be another story. Both good shooters that don't do much with the ball

Ferguson is underrated here.
I hated Burks from day one and always have since..
However, Ferguson, regardless his numbers, is going to ball. Srs.
