Here is the deal...
The Jazz need to add a solid piece in order to show Gordon Hayward that we are all in on him. Two ways to get a solid piece; free agency and via trade. Utah is not a great FA destination for a solid piece (by solid piece I mean someone who has been an all start in the past 2 seasons or has been borderline like Eric Bledsoe or something).
The Jazz don't have a great chance to bring in an All Star level free agent... so it is my thought we would need to go all in on bringing in a solid All Star level player via trade.
So for the draft I expected DL to package our first rounders with one of our good players... Rodney Hood or Derrick Favors to make a trade for that piece, because without our draft picks I don't think the Jazz have the assets to make a trade like that...
So my conclusion is Dennis Lindsey knows Hayward is gone, or he would have actually made a trade for a high level player instead of trading up in the draft.
Thoughts? I know this may be a stretch, but I think it may be a sign that Hayward may be gone.
