Summer League Notes And Discussion

So have Bradley, NWG, and Mitchell officially signed? I hope they actually play in the first game.

I hope so as well. I dont know why the 1st round guys wouldn't be signed in time to play, since their contracts are set prices. Do the second round guys(NWG) need to be signed to play? It seems like plenty of 2nd round picks play in summer league without a contract.

They don't have to, but it would be wise for them. If NWG goes out there and tears his ACL no on is signing him to anything.

Yes he missed a year leading up to the NBA(he sat out after high school), played his rookie year and then missed his 2nd year with the ACL. Then he played last year but was still recovering from surgery.

I definitely feel for his lost time. And it was not his fault. I just feel down that his development is taking a lot slower than I thought.

That article makes it sound line exum still sucks for the most part. It did say he hit 20-24 threes but also missed 8 mid range shots in a row and is struggling with ball handling. Plus usually I think we hear more about the positives stuff than the negative.

Sounds like Donovan is killing it though.

Come to think of it, I can't recall ever seeing Exum take a mid-range jumper in an actual game.

edit: Well, assuming mid-range means 10-19 feet, he was 8-19 during the regular season from there.

I dont see Mitchell playing much PG this year but maybe I am off. I also dont see him being better than Neto or Exum off the bat. Next year? Maybe

Neto blows. I'll cry if Mitchell is not already better than Neto.

People have high expectations for rookies, for some odd reason. People are expecting Mitchell to start or be our primary backup for any position is a little extreme. Most rookies are a liability on the court early. Maybe he is the exception but I would not bet on it. Hopefully if Mitchell isnt a star his rookie year people wont have given up on him by next season when he is the same age as Exum, 21.

Exum is the primary backup (to Rubio). Neto is a 3rd stringer. A sucky one. I'm pretty sure Mitchell will be more of a net positive even as a rookie. But I guess we'll see.
